Hello to All!
What a great forum this is! I recently sold my '92 GMC K1500 plow & hunting truck. It had a 350 gasser. With the cash from the sale I bought a used but solid 94 Chevy Cheyenne K3500 4x4 crewcab dually with the 6.5 Turbo Diesel.
Picked it up for $2K (Canadian) with 6 extra 10 ply tires.
The truck runs great & rides really nice with the long wheelbase!
It has 260000 kilometers on the clock (about 162000 miles).
Only issue is difficult to start when hot. Starts right up & runs fine after dousing PMD & pump with a bottle of water to cool everything down.
Thanks to the great info obtained here, there are a few things I'll be addressing before hunting season comes up in order to ensure reliability out in the boonies:
-Relocate PMD. It's already off the pump and has a small heatsink, but still over the manifold...thinking behind the grille...
-New Oil Pressure Sender...
-New Lift Pump...
-New Oil & filters all around...
-Rustoleum paint job (the paint is peeling quite a bit, but no severe corrosion underneath!)
I might even drop a rebuilt Injection Pump (see them on Ebay for $600 with PMD), or maybe even a new one...what with almost half the GM dealers in Quebec being closed, somebody might have one laying around!
I am open to ideas & suggestions from veteran members of the forum!
Cheers!
~Phil
