I am selling my 3500 duramax dually (because of job loss ) and I am looking at an 8.1 ltr extended cab short bed 2500hd with allison trans with 70.500 miles on it for $15.995
Will this 8.1 pull my 11,000 lb 5th wheel ok??

Sorry to hear about your job loss.
The 8.1L will pull it but it will be different than the D/A. I would highly suggest 4.10 gears with the 8.1 for a 5vr that size

It will pull it. What year cause that price seems high for earlier years.

It will pull it, but you can expect 6-7mpg at 70mph. I have 3.73 gears in mine, and I have to drive in 4th (OD off) when pulling my 10K lb travel trailer at 65mph or less. Once I hit 70 I can shift into 5th and hold it, but only on flat ground. It's a big trailer, 35ft long x 14ft tall x 8ft wide. :)
Keep in mind that my truck is all stock except for the performance tune.

I just got back from 1000 mile trip with my 12000lb 5th wheel. The 8100 pulls it fine but it has to shift alot up even small grades. Driving at 70 mph, I got a low of 6.8mpg and a high of 7.6mpg. Keep in mind that the D-Max developes max hp and torque at 1800 rpm and the 8100 developes max hp and torque at over 3000 rpm's. That deffinetly makes the two act differently. You will miss the D-Max!!

8.1 will be less likely to make trouble for ya, will pull just as well but one gear lower.
