: Estimate on body work, any guys do this stuff know how much it could be?
mmangels22 06-25-2009, 02:19 AM  guys I managed to side swipe a pole at SFO (San Francisco Airport) while parking and I left 2 pancake size dents on the right quarter in front of the rear tire and a little ding by the moulding on the right rear cab door.
I will post pics later to show damage, I was fuming to say the least, oh well at least I wasn't hurt or anyone else for that matter. Back on topic, what would this cost me to fix at a decent body shop??
theunderlord 06-25-2009, 11:37 AM Depends on how bad... any hope of finding a good PDR guy?
mmangels22 06-30-2009, 12:04 PM i may try a cheap method and use pops a dent. hopefully it makes it look better, I can't afford a body shop to fix it.
theunderlord 06-30-2009, 12:06 PM pics?
wreedLBZ 06-30-2009, 01:51 PM start reading about how to properly do body work and get after it yourself.
mmangels22 07-26-2009, 07:18 PM update on this, i invested in a heavy duty dent puller, 20 bucks, worked ok, suction was not as good as I would have liked. I am trying the "ding king" method from northern tool and see if that works, 25 bucks, if that doesn't work out comes the body hammers and dollies I am bound and determined not to bring it to a body shop
GetSome8.1HD 07-26-2009, 07:29 PM Goto a Dent Wizard or something out there. As long as no paint is removed (they do that too here) they will get it right for less than body shop.
BTW - Mirrors are your friend :HiHi:
mmangels22 07-26-2009, 07:40 PM yeah that may be an option if none of the above pans out.
maybe if i had all of your cool doodads then i would have missed that yellow pole
I should really stop telling myself "Oh yeah you can make it, no problem close but ok" I have regretted that every time and still have not learned my lesson  :D

Body work is expensive because its time consuming.. If your wanna learn to do body work yourself its not hard to do, just take your time and do it slow.. Look it up online and find a good site to learn from. If you can get it done and get your truck primed in then just take it and have it painted.

Haha...bodywork is not something you learn over the internet. Its a skill that is acquired over many many years. Hell I know guys that have been doing it for 20 years and STILL suck at it.

You don't think I know this? I never said he was going to learn it overnight. Thats why I simply told him to take his time. Its not THAT HARD to do if you have any idea of whats going on. Having proper tools also makes it easier. I have seen some people try to do body work with some crazy things lol..
mmangels22 12-30-2009, 12:45 PM I got it fixed for a good price but the work you can tell I didn't pay top dollar. Some body panels are not flush but it looks good enough.
chevsforever 12-30-2009, 03:36 PM I did teach myself with some guidance from a friend. I am pretty good, it just takes me a lot longer and more bondo shaving to get a good surface. Painting also took a lot of practice, like anything, but I can make some good looking jobs.
