: Check Engine Light Still On After Finger Install
blitz01 05-06-2005, 12:02 PM I installed my fingerstick and my block off plate, I was so excited thining I could finally get rid of my check engine light, and NOW I have 2 new codes. WTF ?
The codes I am getting now are 0401 and 0101. The check engine light came on a few times last night ONLY after installing my stick and this morning the light came on after startup. I cleared the codes and they did not come back on all the way driving last. It only came on after start up. I cleared it again and checked the code last night was a 0401 and this morning 0101. After I cleared it they did not come back on during my 45min drive to work.
What is the deal. I am starting to realize why I went ot a ford in the first place. I have tried to go back to a Duramax which I really like, But this is becoming ridiculous. I have never had so many problems.
Truck has full exhaust, Quadzilla Stealth Programmer, 6" lift 35" Tires if any of this matters (I don't believe it does)
emerick115 05-06-2005, 12:37 PM My bet would be either there is a problem with the stick, or you installed it wrong. Most everybody here has had great luck with them so far.
skoryaro2 05-06-2005, 01:04 PM Bad connections!
blitz01 05-06-2005, 01:08 PM I am pretty good w/ my skills I am fairly certail that there are no bad connections, I will take it apart and redo it if that is the problem. But why then does it only come on originally and when I clear it it does not seem to come back on unitll it is turnes off and restarted ????? Before it would never go off, and now it atleast seems to stay off once it is cleared, before I couold clear it and it would be back on with 10minutes ??? This is driveing me nuts.
skoryaro2 05-06-2005, 01:26 PM What kind of connectors did you use? I used the wire tap connectors (for now) on mine and I throw the 0101 code about once a month. I blame it on the connectors as others have reported similar problems until they actually soldered or used a better connection method. Redoing mine is on the "to do" list.
kbass24emtp 05-06-2005, 10:48 PM It takes two start cycles for the check engine light to come on. When you start your truck the engine does a check. It it find a problem it will throw a code. When the truck is started again and the engine check throws the same code for the second time the check engine light will come on. I would check your connections. I had a bad stick and it would have the P0101 code every time the engine was started, but the check engine light only came on the second time it was started. Rule out the connections first and I would give Fingers a PM if your sure the connections are good, you might have a bad stick. If you need more help give me a PM.
Fingers 05-06-2005, 11:31 PM You are always free to return your stick for a refund or exchange. No questions asked.
blitz01 05-07-2005, 01:12 AM I am still working on it. It seems to be itermittent, so I am not sure yet. Sunday I wll take it back apart and go thru it again.
Biterman 05-07-2005, 09:14 AM Soldering the connections, my stick has worked perfectly!
garyk211 05-07-2005, 09:58 AM Make sure all four clamps on the intake are real tight. That solved my codes.
baumbanshee380 05-07-2005, 01:03 PM I installed a stick on my 05 worked great no codes. Then I did another 04 for a company and he would get a p0103 code just after shutting it down and restarting it. I soldered all connections. Ordered another stick from fingers installed it and it worked great. So I think in your case you either have a bad connection or a bad stick.
Cummin_Stroke_this_Dmax 05-07-2005, 09:35 PM I did the same thing, Fingerstick and block off plate. I got codes 401 and 404, re-checked and re-checked my connections.... they were all soldered up good. Then I got thinking that maybe I needed the extra gasket for block off plate. I installed the second gasket last night (one on each side of block off plate) and have been checking and checking.... no more codes. Fingers has had excellent luck with this so I didn't want to condemn the Stick before I tried everything. Knock on wood.... that was my whole problem from the beginning. (Have done at least 12 ignition cycles and 75 miles since last night.)
blitz01 05-08-2005, 12:11 AM I think my problem has been resolved, no more codes. I will keep my fingers crossed
Fingers 05-08-2005, 09:41 PM And the solution?
blitz01 05-09-2005, 05:30 PM Just cycled the key, and reset computer (dsiconnect battery for 12hours) seems to be working. I guess it just neede to work it's way out.
Fingers 05-09-2005, 05:49 PM The LLY computer can not be reset by unhooking the batteries. Everything is stored in non-volitale Flash memory.
blitz01 05-09-2005, 07:55 PM Well then I guess it was just the cycling og the key or luck. I did not know that.
