I'm thinking about swapping the fluid in my trans and installing an external filter.

Has anyone done the upgrade to an external filter? What filter/kit did you use? IIRC, someone listed a filter to use that was clearly better than the typical spin-on transmission filter supplied with kits. Ideas?

Any thoughts on fluid are welcome, too.

be careful with this and make sure you chceck your line pressures. The line pressure could, very well, drop below what would be desirable after going through the filter. I had one on a 700R4 once and removed it after about an hour of use.

definatly use the lubegard atf protectant in the red bottle as an additive. very good stuff. any atf is ok as long as you change it regularly. sure a synthetic is better but more money. invest in a deep pan while you got it tore apart. ive seen a couple of external filters at summit but have heard that flow was a problem.
