Hello, I seem to be having a little problem with my truck. The air conditioner system has stopped working.
Was driving home A/C on had it on for an hour Was alomst home when it started blowing hot air. There was no funny noise or anything, it just switched from cold to hot. took the truck to a local mechanic and he checked the A/C pressure and said was ok, plugged a computer in to system and said bad compressor.
is there anything i can check before stumping out a big chuck of change for a new compressor.

Have you tried it since? There's been more than a couple that have seen the same symptoms - restarting sometimes fixes it. something about actuator doors loosing their mind and not positioning correctly.

Same with mine. Blistering hot air when it should be cold

most times it is a bad temp blend door motor. if you have separate driver and passenger temp is it hot on one side and cold on the other? check it out. i have seen a few hvac control heads go bad but i would say 90% of the time it is the temp door motor. there is a left and a right temp door motor if you have separate temp controls.

My buddy's Dmax was in the shop 4 times for A/C problems. Compressor would
just drop out. Dealer tore into control's and dash, ect. but never could fix. One day at lunch time we walked outside to look at it while it was acting up. I wiggled the low
pressure cut out switch on the filter dryer and it came on. It was simply a bad connection.
Been working fine for years now. It's a long shot but worth checking.

the passengers side will stay cold, and the drivers side will get hot.

I have to do the exact same thing on my '03 GMC.
Tap or wiggle the low pressure switch and it comes on.
Might be a bad switch or connection.
If switch, can it be replaced without evacuating the system?

Where is this switch located? I'd like to look at mine. I've been struggling with this issue for a while now. Pictures would be most beneficial. TIA!

Here is link to a picture of the part.
I replaced mine last summer and it has been perfect since.
It is located next to the firewall near the evaporator can, passanger side.
Eric has them in stock and ships fast.
