: Shutting up seatbelt reminder?

I know on a Ford you can easily disable the driver's seatbelt reminder, is there a way to do it on our 05 2500HD? It's driving Tracey nuts on short trips doing horse stuff etc.

Thanks!

Put on the seatbelt....or, if you are like me and don't want Government Motors to continue telling you what to do, just unplug the warning wire. Where the female end of the seat belt clip mounts to the seat there is a plug with 2 wires, just unplug them on both the drivers and passenger side. I think it's black.

I'm pretty sure that does it, on my dads dodge I had to solder the 2 wires together to create a loop, but I think on my chevy it is opposite and you just need to unplug them.

I unplugged mine after I bought it and it works, I still wear my belt all the time though.

ok, relatively easy on a ford, if you are really fast and clipping and unclipping your seatbelt, LOL. Thanks for the replies guys, wasn't sure if there was a proper way to disable it or if just disconnecting the buckle wire would work.

Ok, how about putting it on - the seat. Just pull it across the seat like there is someone there - and buckle it. Then just sit on top of it. Wouldn't that work for the few times you need it????

There is a plug under the seat hooked into the seat belt plug. It's a small one. Unplug it and no more dinger. I also did the door dinger too.

Use belt all the time on good roads, it can get mighty uncomfortable over bumpy dirt roads at slow speeds

People get slaughtered here on I-80 in NE Nev. Great road, no collision, just inattentive to what they are doing or driving while tired. Go off the sholder, over correct and roll over. In 90% of the cases the driver and occupants dead on the road were not wearing the seat belts. Your vehicle has more of a crush on you than you do on it. Make putting the belt on a part of starting the vehicle.

some people just can't help it i guess....

Can't people just not preach for once? LOL!! why does it matter why he wants it bypassed? why do people feel the need to make it there business?

Guess I'll never understand that one!

I'm gonna unplug mine too. I always wear my seat belt on the road but if I'm driving around the pasture jumping in an out of my truck working or hunting I don't want to wear it or hear it

Same here when driving around checking fields, getting in and out driving a maximum of 10mph the seatbelt chime is annoying.

So unplugging it works? I would rather the black box think that it is buckled up though:p:

I'm pretty sure that by unplugging it your causing it to break the ground and in this case an open circuit is what makes it think you have it on.... in other words when its unplugged its just like having it on thus not setting off the dinger!

put your middle seat belt "if you have a 40-20-40 seat" in the drivers side belt holder I ask this same question in 04 or 05 and thought I was going to get my Birthday cancelled and have to move to another country . Or go to a gm dealer and ask for a seat belt extender.;)Some of thes asshole's on here don't understand AGRICULTURE they get their milk from the store :D

Well to each there own on this subject, i would have been killed wearing my seatbelt when i rolled my pickup, You can use a small screwdriver and push the center of the female section down and lock it. Just push the release button when you want to use the seat belt.
