I have never heard of a dana 70 front, only 60 and 61 fronts(61 were on the newer f-250s). My money seys that if you search for a dana 60 front spindle for whatever year axle he has, it will be a match.

Dana 70 front, 1967-1978. Ide be very surprised if those parts are not discontinued. Having said that, I know we have a crap load of new old stock spicer stuff for those king pin front ends. I probably also have an older book with the listings and such, the literature spicer has online isnt always great for lookin up the real old stuff PM me on monday and ill see if i can find ya anything if your interested.

wait a minute, does he need an outer axle shaft or a spindle? The spindle assembly does not seem to differentiate left to ride side, where as the axles do.

he needs the spindle the part that has threads on it for the big nut. i read online they might be the same as a dana 60 as hardcoremxer7 said previously. but others say they are not

Well there is a limited amount of older literature available online through dana. The spindles are not listed as different from drive side to passenger side, the axles are, however, i cannot access a break down of the axle shaft assembly via dana's website. A break down of the assembly would tell me whether the outer axles are the same or one side has a left handed thread I believe both the axles and the spindles both should have nuts on them. I also logged into dana's distributor system and tried to order the parts, the part numbers are so old the system doesnt even say they are obsolete, its just says invalid number. That doesnt mean i dont have a few left in stock at work. We still have stuff(which we still sell here and there) on the shelf that was outdated when i was born in 84. I will know Alot more tomorrow when i dig through through some of the old spicer catalogs. We have also been repairing those unavailable axle parts when we run out of em. Its not nearly as cheap to repair, but if the parts are no longer available its cheaper than junkin a good truck.

How ya makin out in your quest for parts? If you go here
http://www2.dana.com/expertforms/depdf.aspx?prod=AXL
and click on publication number X510-8DSD, this will give you a break down for that dana 70 front. I looked for the parts in the archives today, then checked the supercession list from 1991 and found most of them void. I can sift through the catalogs and see if there is another part that will interchange. Im sure someone somewhere still has these parts, its just a matter of tracking them down.

The D-70 spindle i beleive is different from the D-60. Most folks upgrade their D-60 outer stubs by going to the 35 spline D-70 stubs but this usually requires some grinding on the D-60 spindle so the stub can pass through it. The D-70's are still around but are far and few between. You can look into International trucks for parts too.

I have the Gibson too and love it, my brother got his from ebay but I wanted a valid warranty(the winter salt here destroys metal) so I got it here. gibson 315519 (http://gibsonexhaustdirect.com/product.php?productid=180?odm), or you can try one of the vendors here on the forum, they are allways having sales/specials. Either way its a great system and very easy to install and for the price you give it a look.
