I thought I would start a new thread devoted to the Edge CS/CTS. We installed the display, bracket and cord a couple of days ago at Edge. Because I have been running the Standard/Race Evo I still have to put the new probe in for the egt sending unit. My understanding is that the leading end of the cable is similar to that of the Juice. The aft end has a "T" in it that is capped and is an expansion port for future hardware...I like it....just have to take the time to unscrew the existing probe, slide the new one in and plug it into the back of the unit. I am posting several pictures of the unit installed (CTS RACE). I will be installing the optional Back-Up camera this weekend. The screen shows the view to the rear whenever you select reverse.

Here is a few more pics...I didn't think they would all load on the first post.

Here are my first thoughts...

The display head is actually heavier than It looked like it would be. It is solid and "feels" and looks really well built. The bezel appears to be a brushed, black anodized aluminum affair. A lot of attention to detail was put into R&D as well as manufacturing. It is extremely well made.

There are many more pins in the main plug that goes to the OBDII port. There is also a seperate port for the EGT probe to plug into. There is a small audio "speaker" on the back that is well protected and a standard yellow RCA jack to take the video feed from the rear camera....or from anywhere else you point it (I assume it's only going to work when reverse is selected). The camera is a rear bumper affair and is very sturdy with a barrel lock for anti theft. Lots of cord to run forward to the cab...just havn't done it yet. Corey from Edge had it mounted on his truck and it looked and functioned great. The image on the screen was a lot sharper that I anticipated....great clarity.

Functionality....

From the pics you can see that there are so many options and sub menus....it will take a while to get used to all this unit can do. The screenshots really don't do any justice to what is there....I could load a thousand pics and it might cover it. As the pics show, you can select a simulated analog guage screen and it will give you 5 parameters to display, 3 on a "dial" and 2 simple readouts on each side of the unit. Or...you can select up to 8 pids simultaneously in a simplified field. As you look at the unit, the white looking dot on the center-right of the bezel is an ambient light sensor. This is supposed to change the contrast for the light conditions present. It must work perfectly as I have not found myself wanting to change it during different lighting.

One thing that REALLY amazes me is the speed that you can program the ecm from stock w/ a tire size option as a trailer and then go back to stock. This morning I went from stock to fully programmed in 2min 47 seconds. I went from fully programmed to stock in 29 seconds, and level to level was lickity split (forgot to time that). Impressive.

I was a little distrustful of the suction cup mount that came with the kit.....I am not now. That thing is STURDY, period....no wobble and it will NOT come off until you release the suction lever. The display head DOES NOT move. Corey told me that the attachment slots on the back of the unit are the same as the "Most Common" style found on GPS units....point being that there is a ton of options for mounting the thing.

All in all I am very impressed with the quality, workmanship, function and expandability. The tunes I have currently are the race tunes...there is no difference between this and the standard Race Evo as far as the tunes go. Looking forward to getting the rest of it installed and working to it's capacity this weekend.

Regards,

Eric

When you have a camera connected you can enter the main menu and you'll see a menu option that says "view camera" You can use this option to view the camera any time you like :)

You also have the ability to set a delay time for the camera to appear once you select reverse. That way if you can dictate how fast it brings the camera up once reverse is selected.

So I got up this morning and put the new probe in. Straight forward and done in about 15 minutes, including heating the shrink tube to keep the junk out. I reset the display to show the pids that I like when towing. I did get confused though....when going into the menu to select the EGT display, I had an option for "EGT EDGE BLACK" and "EGT EDGE RED". you can see the pics below. What is the difference between "RED" and "BLACK"? I chose "RED" and it looks good on the display. I just didn't know if it was the same kind of relationship as the air intake TUBE temp -vs- air intake MANIFOLD temp....as they display different temps obviously.

I fear I wont get to the b/u camera today or tomorrow....we are supposed to get a gully washer and I am working outside.:(

All is well so far....really, really like this unit.

Hey Eric,

I think the red or black option is if you have the eas system which you can connect two egt temps... One being black & one being red.. It is really sweet!!!

They will offer an upgrade for the regular evolutions & race evolutions.. The upgrade would basically be the same as just buying the unit when it comes out so why wait? The only catch is if you buy a race you can upgrade to the cts or cs race... If you buy a regular evolution, then you can upgrade to a cts or cs evolution. You can not upgrade a evolution to a cs or cst race model.... Must stay in the same family... Just an option if you did not want to wait... There is nothering wrong with just the regular evolution or the regular race.. The both rock...

I don't believe a release date has been set yet (I could be wrong). The CS/CTS is still in alpha and beta testing, but it won't be long. I have not experienced a single problem with the unit I have received...and no codes yet.:D

The way it sounds.. If you bought an evolution you can just upgrade to the new cs or cst evolution for a fee... But the fee with the initial cost will cost you the same as just buying one... You will lose nothing... What an awesome thing to do...

Have not thrown any codes...well...I have thrown a u1064 every few weeks like clockwork since the day it rolled off the dealer's lot....something about, "loss of communication with body". I have stopped trying to find it and fix it. Sure is easier to clear it.:D

Buck and the crew are still working on getting it ready for release.

It is REALLY nice to have 5 pids displayed, or choose how many you want up to 8.

Great stuff......:D

Still testing....I have no complaints and only praises. I will have one suggestion for the Edge team...one display pid on the analog screen is a little small for my tired old eyes to read easily. Of course I have to admit that I am going through a small mid-life crisis.....I just got my first pair of glasses (at 46 yrs old), I can see the world when I wear them...but I can't get used to them so I don't.:o:

For those waiting patiently for the CS / CTS product to get to market, the Edge team is working non-stop to get it ready for a seamless roll out.

Sounded neat as well when going downhill with the windows down, nice little increase in whistling!!:D Can't wait for the CTS, the tuning Edge has developed for this is awesome, 2mpg increase in towing over my Quad S2! What are you looking for actually? Just the backup pictures??? The camera works nice.. If you go in reverse, it turns on... If you are driving down the road & want to look at the camera view you just push view camera.. The camera has a lock on it. If you unlock it & want to mount it on your tailgate it is also magnetic so you just put it on a metal surface.. Now you can view your load in the box if you want to.. It is a nice feature to have...

I've been hesitant to post anything because I know how easy it is to start a flame war. I'll preface this with the fact that I ran the Quadzilla on my truck for 45,000 miles. I've been running the Edge CTS race for approximately 1,500 miles now. Needless to say, I'm used to how the truck behaves with the Quad in place. I always ran around in the econ mode. My truck would consistently get 15.2-15.4 MPG with my mix of in-town/highway driving. The best I've ever seen out of the truck with the Quad is 18 MPG, but it would average 17-17.5 MPG consistently on the highway. My biggest complaint about my LMM has been its lack of towing ability vs. what my LB7, LMM, and LBZ would do. It would grab gears pulling my boat, and it was rare for my previous trucks to grab gears pulling my 48' enclosed. Since the CTS race has been installed, my MPG has consistently increased. My combined city/highway mileage is now averaging 16.5 MPG, and on a 280-mile round-trip last weekend I averaged 19.5 MPG going and 19.0 MPG returning. My truck has NEVER done this. I have pulled my 48' enclosed briefly with the CTS in place, and it felt REALLY good. I'm heading to Memphis on Wednesday with the 48' enclosed for the NMCA LSX Shootout, which will be approximately 1,800 miles round-trip. This will be the truest test of the CTS for me. Hopefully the biggest complaint of my truck is gone. :) Let's not forget the monitoring ability of the CTS! I'll be installing the EGT probe before I head out to Memphis, which will be very nice for monitoring.

I won't argue with any of the naysayers. I have ZERO affiliation with Edge, other than using their products in the past. I keep the CTS on level 1 all of the time, but I did try level 4 briefly a few weeks back. ;) It definitely feels stronger from the performance standpoint, but my main concern was not the performance. The CTS loads tunes REALLY quickly compared to other brands I've tried, so any changes made do not take a lot of time. The Edge CTS race has been a better tuner for me all the way around, and I think my trip with the enclosed trailer will further prove this for me.

A big thumbs up to Edge for another awesome product! :thumb:

Nice to hear it's working well for you. (I've been an Edge user since 2004)

Curious as to why you have the Race versus the Standard, as it appears you're not going to use it for high performance end?

He's using Edge-Race 'cause of that one item listed in his sig:
Downpipe-Back 4" Magnaflow

DPF either fell off, or wore out. :confuzeld

I recently purchased the EDGE CTS (standard) and love it. I had the Edge Juice w/Attitude for about a year and half with a few problems and poor gas milage around town. With the CTS my milage has increased and the tune seems a lot smoother. I am looking forward to trying the turbo break feature at the end of the month when I take my trailer to Glamis for a weekend of riding! Edge hit a homerun with this one!!

Can anyone explain the turbo brake setup? I didn't see anything in the instructions, and I'd love to try it if I have the capability!

It's a built in functionality on level 2. If you have Tow/Haul mode on, it's automatically enabled.

So while the engine will downshift to maintain speed while in Tow/Haul, the turbo brake opens up the vanes on the turbo to also try and help maintain speed going down hills.

Just got my CTS installed last night thanks to some late night efforts from Buck. I am also going to be beta testing this unit. I will be more than likely making a trip to the Saint Anthony dunes this weekend depending on weather. This is on an LB7, not an LMM, but im sure its very very similar.
