Hollywood D-Max 05-05-2005, 12:05 AM Just bought a brand new 2005 Duramax and a strange ticking noise is coming from the motor something I never heard in my 01, from 0 to 120,000 miles. Any ideas out there, or is it this new noise only the LLY makes? 14.71 @96MPH first and only run! Hollywood dogofdeath 05-05-2005, 12:13 AM Mine is doing the same thing. (05 LLY) I took it to the dealer and they pulled a service bulletin on it and said it was normal. Also if you do a search on this in the forums you will see other people have had this same thing. Most say it gos away after they put a few thousand miles on them. I can say I have 3500 miles on mine and it is starting to go away. Thought it was an exhaust leak at first on the drivers side. Hollywood D-Max 05-05-2005, 12:16 AM Yea mine is on the passenger side and i got a matco scanner and none of the injectors came up bad so i was cool with that i thought it would have to do with the amount of torque and **** i have added to it but i only ran it one time. thanks man! I've learned to ignore it. vdies 05-05-2005, 05:27 PM I have 4300 on my 2005 and it still makes that noise Hollywood D-Max 05-06-2005, 01:14 AM More information on ticking noise, well with the Edge Programmer on it running stage 5, the tick will come on strong when you slow down after a run, not to mention it sounds like its coming directly from the middle of the motor, could it be a lifter. Hollywood I have a 05 d max also and mine did the clicking noise.. especially on excelartation. took it to the dealer..they drove it and said not suppose to be!! they put it on their computer and said it was the wrong program..but now it has calmed down and doenst click.. does not get any fuel milage either.. about 12-14 and that taken it very very easy.. have a little over 10000 on it.. Wolford 05-09-2005, 12:07 AM Same here the Edge box seems to make it worse when the engine is cruising but not really loaded. 05 D/A 2500 05-09-2005, 02:09 AM The infamous "ticking" has been discussed qiute a bit on this forum, do a search like Max Power suggested and you will find that it comes and goes mostly after the first couple of oil changes. Most dealers will say that it is normal in the D-Max. | ||
