I just bought my first duramax about 4 months ago so im not to educated on this topic so here is my question. I've got 3000 miles on my truck and i put the edge juice with attitude on it and no problems. Then i put an afe stage 2 intake on it with a mbrp catback exhaust system. I have driven probably 100 miles with no problem but now the ses light is on. Not to sound stupid but does anyone have an idea what is causing this without knowing the exact code? Any advice would help before i have to get someone to read the code for me. Thanks for your help .:confuzeld

IF you removed your cat you are prolly getting the llight for poor EGR flow.

Could still be EGR related issue.. sry I cant be of much help but your best bet is to get someone to scan for the code. That way you will no exactly what the problem is.

Are there any risks if I ignore the light?

Need to know what the code is to determine if you can ignore it. Most likely it's an emissions failure and you might be able to ignore it but with a new truck I'd fix it if possible. How about filling out a signature so it's easier for people to diagnose.

Thank you i will do that.
If you ignore the light long enough, you could burn out the bulb!! Try doing a search for "EGR" or "Finger Stick" and do some reading. You will find out what is going on real quick. There is a lot of info on this topic. Good Luck.

you can try going to auto zone ( i think thats the parts store that does this) and have them scan the codes. they will usually do it for free and clear the codes if you want. or you can find a buddy that has a Predator and check the codes, or you could buy a scan tool at a parts store.... just some sugestions.

Buy the Finger Sticks and the blocker plate anyway because EGR and diesel dont go together. That will more than likely fix your problem, but you still need to check for the codes.. Mine has not thrown a light yet but the hypertech confirmed I had codes set and they were for poor EGR flow(NO cat or muffler) and a few other minor things.
