2004 LLY just under 20k miles, pulling 4000lb boat home and pop! smoke! no power! No check lights went off. Truck bone stock--finger stick,blocker plate and juice have been off for a month! Truck would barely do 55mph and blowin major black smoke! Got home, disconnected boat, and took it out. Stopped blowing black and started popping and blowing blue smoke at WOT! I checked my original air filter and it was above 50% and looked decent. My OEM fuel filter was changed at 11,140 miles and the nictane filter installed at 8,200 miles. Should I change filters or just call the dealer? This is my first major problem, and I am pissed, really thinkin about going back to an old gasser once this is ironed out! 186,000 and my '98 5.7 never let me down! I'm thinkin a bad turbo! Cause the last trip to dealer was for oil leaking from intercooler hose--and they just "sealed" the hose coupling!

the hose has now blown off...........no boost no power lots of smoke.......or dead turbo

if the hose got oily it may have blown off just like dave said :)

Damn, forgot to check that last night! I was so pissed--drove the beater to work this am, then called the stealer and told them to come and pick it up in my driveway! And said I'm not going to be nice this time--I want a loaner--and one I can pull my walleye boat with for the weekend tourny!! Said something about a trailblazer!--my boat will tear one of those up! That would make sense, cause it was very sudden--just accelerating onto freeway and POP! major smoke no power. But why when I took it back out the black smoke was gone, and just white/blue with popping and even less power than when she was pouring out the black smoke? It was real bad behind me when she was smokin black. A dude in a Cummins slowed down and passed me real slow--I know that bastard was laughin!

Just a guess - but, less boost. Truck wasn't working as hard not towing anything.

i agree with that. turbo not trying to create as much boost without the load.

Picked it up tonight, the hose off the intercooler was off! Damn, idiots, they were the last ones to piss with the hose! Runs fine now, but still got oil dripping off the hose! Really gettin tired of this truck. Gonna hook the juice back up and really romp on her--maybe something will break!

tell them that it is leaking and have them replace it. verify that they tightened it all the way first.
