I recently had the factory style roof marker lights installed on my 03 HD X-tended cab and I can see the roof near each screw is pulled down which looks terrible. The shop that did the work said they have installed many of these on the same model and they have never had a problem. Has any one had a problem when they had the lights put on. They are trying to solve the problem but really don't know what is causing the problem. They have tryed to losen the screws to relax the roof but then they don't seal. Any ideas would be great.

I have to ask...Did they use sheet metal screws directly into the roof? If so, it doesn't surprise me to hear you plight. There is no support as that metal is flimsey and will flex easily. Try using nutplates on the backside of the hole to strengthen the area when the screws are drawn tight so as to create a vise-like clamping.

This is only an example of one (from a Corvette). It may be that you will have to make one or more in your case. 1/8" thick aluminum would likely work more than adequate.
The shape will be that of the lamp base and the holes would match that of the lamp mounting hardware and there would be a hole in the center for the wiring to pass through.
You'll definately have to drop the headliner to do this and it would hurt to have a warm body in the cab to help. But when it is all said and done, it will be clamped nice and flush and as long as you use some sort of weather sealant, it will be impervious to the elements.
I hope it helps

I installed the lights myself and had no problem. First, I drilled a pilot hole and used the screws included with the lights. Can you take a picture of your roof to show us? I am a little confused because the screws are inset from the edge of the lights and there is a rubber gasket that surrounds the light housing that should seal to the roof. My suggestion would be to remove the screws, drill the holes out a little bigger and use small bolts with a washer and nut on the inside. Just be careful not to overtighten them or you will crack the plastic light housings.
