I apologize for bringing this issue up again but could not find an answer while searching the other posts.

My girlfriend has an 04 Silverado 1500 CC SB with a 5.3 and is intermittently getting the "Service Brake System" message in the DIC and the Brake Light and ABS Lights come on with the chime. When I shut the truck off and restart it, the lights and message go off. No Codes stored after engine is turned off. I have scanned for codes when it is running and the lights and message are on and there are still no codes present.

I have read many posts about this issue here in the forum. The battery is a new red top optima fully charged with alternator working properly. I have also checked the ABS module and all is connected properly and I have also checked the wheel speed sensors and they are good. I have recently replaced the front brake pads and checked the rear brake pads, greased the slides and bled the brakes. I have read that to get a full bleed I would have to have a Tech II attached and complete a power bleed. I have not had that done yet.

I thought I had it narrowed down to a TSB on this situation. There is a software reflash to reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module. Bulletin # 04-05-25-005A.

When I called to set up an appointment to bring the truck in to have this done, I was told that this bulletin was only for 2500HD and 3500 trucks.

Is this reprogramming of the EBCM only for the heavier duty trucks or is there another bulletin to correct the same isue on the 1500 as well?

I am unsure what to try next. Any Gm Techs or brake experts out there that can give me some insight.

Thanks in advance,
Derrick

running bigger tires, and or programmer? double check speed sensors at both wheels, maybe not seated all the way. you said you checked the sensors, but were they rusted or have condensation on them? also check the hole on the knuckles to make sure there is no rust there or anything elses in there. also check the connection of where the speed sensor connects to the harness. maybe got pulled out if you let the brake caliper hang. also check the male pins while you are there, and see if they are loose. if so, carefully bend them so they will have better contact with the female pins, also use a little bit of dielectric grease. hope this helps
