We just bought a 05 2500hd 2wd 6.0 w/4.10 rears. Does anyone have any idea what kind of milage we can expect from it?

my 01 got about 8 to 10 and maybe 11 on the road. -:t -:t

I don't have the truck anymore, but used to have an 03 model. Got around 13 everyday driving (no interstate). I did check mine pulling my 5000 Lb. camper several times and on the interstate got between 11 and 12 mpg which I thought was great towing, with the bed full of stuff also.

12 - 14 commuting. 10 with my camper loaded. NV4500. Not sure if the auto helps, or hurts mileage.

Your 2wd should get a little better mileage since your not dragging around the transfer case, front diff, front driveshaft and shafts. Maybe 5-7% less weight.

you also didnt post the cab type. mine is about as heavy as they get for a single wheel gasser, crew cab 4x4. i get 13 in town and 14-15 highway.

I had a 2002 ext cab 6.0 2WD 2500HD. 13-14 daily driving. Could possibly squeak 15 on the highway. 10-11 towing the boat.

I traded it in on a DMAX Crew cab.

my old 2002 2500hd 4X4 i put 295's tires on it to help offset the 4.10 gear ratio. after programing the tire size I was getting 13-14 mpg around town, put a 24' V-nose snowmobile trailer fully loaded , NOT even 7mpg, if got traded off for the Dmax

WOW:eek: You got great milage. Maybe mine will improve then. I am have some 285's put on my 01 HD ext cab short bed put on Saturday. I have the 6.00 with 4.10's also.

Even though I have a 4wd, I thought I'd add some info. I have a '02 GMC 2500HD X-Cab with 6.0L, auto, 4.10 gears, and 265's. I've kept track of every tank of gas so far and it has around 30K on it. In town, it gets 11-13 mpg and highway gets 13-15 mpg. Best I ever got was one tank at 17 mpghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif...Never been able to duplicate that one thoughhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/confused.gif. It seems to get 9-11 when pulling a trailer anywhere from 2K to 7K lbs. I'm currently thinking of trading it in on a CC Duramax though.

Round town I get about 9 or maybe 10.

Downhill with the enginer turned off? If you ever find out how to repeat that, let me know and I'll forget about trading mine in for a D-Max.

I get about 13 mpg city and 14 mpg highway with crewcab and long bed 05 chevy 2500hd,

My 02 with 285's and reg cab gets 10mpg all day eveyday. It dosent seem to matter unless I pull the camper, with all that frontal area then its 8mpg. I always tow it in 3rd at just under 3k rpms tows great. Once you get over 7k lbs its a turd and really likes to slow on any hill unless the revs are way up like 4k!

By the way last tank 10.65mpg around town and some highway.
