friend of mine was tellin me about a weighted cover he got for his SBC dual disk when he had it rebuilt...was wondering what kind of advantages this has over normal and if it will increase the amount of HP you can run on the clutch. also what other options are there out there for dual disks from South Bend?thanks
Mike

SBC makes the best aftermarket clutches. The clutch kits have different designs based on how the customer will be using their truck. If you just do street driving with little or now tuners, towing etc then a SD Max Con O clutch will be fine. If you plan on sled pulling then a DDD Max Con FB will hold huge power and weight. If you plan on dowing something differently between these two they make other clutches. Call or email me about where you drive, with what rwhp, etc and I can help you determing the correct kit for you truck!

is this a joke. first (airmanadams88) if you want a really clutch get a haisley clutch. Me and my buddy put 8 sbc's in 2 pulling truck last year. 2 of them didnt even move the sled. now i dont know if haisley makes a clutch for your tranny or not. but i would look into it first.now for the weighted clutch by far the best clutch out there, for sled pulling that is. dont know if you know how the weights work or not but as the clutch spins and the weight spin the more pressure on the disks. depending on how much weight is on there determinds what rpm the clutch is going to engage itself. thats why it isnt a good clutch for the street cause you would have to fall below a certain rpm to disengage the clutch. after changing to this clutch all we have had to do is reshim the clutch. but these are not on street trucks. but haisley does make a street puller.

with in 5 pulls that could be any of them. but not even move the sled after just being put in is pretty bad.

my southbend never fully engaged still went 240 feet... so driver error sounds extremely possible to me... tommygriz. stick to the auto forum and noone really wants to hear about what clutch held up in a different brand of truck. we arent talking about ford or dodge.
