Can anyone tell me about how the Edge programming affects shift quality?

Obviously you have to let the Alli learn with any programming, but my Alli acts overly academic with the Predator. If I drive even slightly different, it wants to re-learn and ends up making some poor shifts.

This b i t c h loves to learn!

It's not the Suncoast, because it shifts excellent when I drive balls-to-the wall all the time. When I'm at stock power levels and get it trained, I get very few poor shifts.

So, is it the Predator's unrefined programming? Does the Edge provide more consistent shifts?

I've had very little problem with the alli shifting when I run the juice. When I start it in the morning and the edge is on level 3 the shifts are completely normal even before the engine temp gets to 160deg. After the edge starts adding power the only shift difference is the defueling between shifts but that is smooth as well. I've also found this when I change power levels from 0 to 5. No problems. The Predator on the other hand shifts hard as hell until the alli gets used to it. Then if you change the pred. program it starts over again. I have not run the edge without defueling since I don't have the tranny done yet. After I get the SC IV in it'll be "balls to the walls".

I hope this helps answer your question.

Yeah, that's some good real-world info. I did some more testing today, and it seems like Predator's top LLY tune is the worst in terms of shifting and overall smoothness. The 65 tune feels much better in terms of shift quality, even after messing around at different power levels and generally confusing the Alli.

Now that I'm gaining some experience, I'm ready to try some different programming to get what I'm after. I'm not sorry I have the Predator, but I think there are some more refined tunes out there. <<<heading to put some Miracle Grow on that money tree in the back yard>>>

Thanks!

I'm holding tight with what I have for now. I might add NOS at some point but I'm really waiting to see if anyone comes out with a real Kick A** tuner/programmer for the LLY with similar performance as the TTS extreme for the LB7.
