Hello, I have been on the board for a while but this is one of my first posts

I Have a weird chrip from behind the dash somewhere, and I can not locate it. It only happens when the fan for the climate control is on. Regardless of the fan setting. ( except Off of course) a a regual intervual ( sp?) I get the chirp. I just noticed this and I do not think that is was there from the start. I have the manual climate control. I was wondering any one else has this sound when the fan is running.

TIA for any help.

Sounds like your blower motor. Confirm by increasing fan speed and listening to the chirp speed.

Big Mike,

My truck does the EXACT same thing.....and I hear it on teh drivers side. COuld be the fan....or could it be the dampers or a damper acting up?

Are you sure the chirp isn't the A/C compressor cycling on/off? This is a common source of the "chirp" complaint. I bet this is what you are hearing ...especially if it doesn't do it with the climate control turned off or A/C disabled.

The AC might be waking up the cricket back there...

I tried to listen to it better on the way to work today. It sounds like it is on the drivers side. This happens when the SC compressor should be off. ( a/c and defrost off )

It does not seem to changethe rate when the fan motor is changed. However I did notice that I can sometimes get it to happen if I turn off the fan and then turn it on after a about 5 to 10 seconds and If I leave it on it will chirp at a pretty regular rate.

Are there baffles or something on the drivers side that open and close depending on the temp in the cab.

I guess that I will have to sick my head down there and see if I can futher isolate where it is coming from. It is really starting to annoy me.

Had identical sounding problem in another vehicle. Bad fan motor.
