animal 05-03-2005, 08:00 PM 2004 lb7 90,000 miles has started to smoke while at idle with the faint smell of raw fuel. Has none of the signs of injector failure. This is happening when the truck is either cold or hot, but does not smoke while under load. Does anybody have any ideas other than the injectors. Smoke at idle, a more pronounced diesel smell, but no other symptoms. #7 injector over-fueling & replaced. The weird thing is, at first the injector replacement didn't completely clear up the smoke at idle, but after a few hundred miles, it has gotten back to normal. If you take it in can you be sure to post on here and let us know if it was indeed the injectors and if it isn't the injectors than what was causing the problem. Thanks! animal 05-06-2005, 05:42 PM yep, it was the injectors, so they are replacing the injectors and all the injector lines. The only thing that saved me any money is that I have a 4500 and it has a two year unlimited warranty. If it had been a pick-up it would have had the 3/36 warranty and I would have been screwed! I would have to pay for all the lines. One happy boy, animal dollyo11 05-06-2005, 10:10 PM Mine started to leave a big cloud of white smoke first thing in the morning about 2 weeks ago, dealer in redding has truck as of 2:30 today ,blowing fuel on the cars behind us used 1/4 tank in 90 miles/ crankcase full of diesel/be back on the road monday pm//it's not if it's when and I have mine// | ||
