To save you some serch/reading time, people here have run 315's on the stock rim. Quite a few run 285's and tons of people run 265's. The specs on a 265 call for a 7-8.5" rim. So in all actualality a 265 is too big for our measly 6.5" wide rim. I have 30K on a set of 265's with nooo problemsssss.

I believe the factory aluminum alcoa wheel is an 8 lug x 6.5" center with 5" of backspacing. It has a weight rating of 2450 LBS. It is 6.5" wide. It is forged polished aluminum with a clear coat.

They work fine....you may need to do a little bit of trimming in the fenderwell on the front driver's side...in the front. A little trim and a little pullback with wire ties here and there will be all you need.

265's work just fine, in fact they are available on the 1500's as an option that is usually standard but is pretty much the maximum that I would suggest running. Running 285's will create a lot of unnecessary ware issues being squeezed onto that small of a rim down the road but you can get by if you maintain tire pressure and consistent rotation. I would not suggest it though. The contact patch really compromised at this point. Not saying you should take them off but don't go complaining to the your tire guy when they ware uneven and prematurely.

I keep my 285's rotated and properly inflated. ive got around 8 or 9k on them and they are wearing fine. As burnin mad max said, about 1/2 inch of the inside and outside of the tire doesnt touch the ground, but no problems other than that.

15K on 265 BFG AT's here - that's as big as I would go on a stock rim.

i've got 65,000 km's on a set of 285 bfg at's 50% of which are towing 10,000 lbs or more. like others have said outter and inner edges don't touch a whole lot. no rubbing issues at all. i would recommend 285's just because they look alot better than the 265's and the ride is a little nicer.

285s here, had 265s before. had the 265s on 16x 8 rims & definatly have to say 285s are much better. you can find some good rims for $120 to $200.

Thanks people for all the nice replys, yea i just could'nt see running out and buying new rims for an 1/2 inch, the only reason i'am changeing the size is i might be towing a 5th wheel and their a little wider. thanks, hbigralph
