Does hacking the muffler off of a D-Max help the turbo spool up any faster? I want the sound so I will probably do it but are there and adverse affects?

if you do ditch the cat to it rilly spools faster. i straight piped mine and i love it you might get a check engine light but there is a fix for that. And it sounds great.

With no mods, "boxes or programmers" you will probably see a very small increase in spool time. Put some more fuel on the fire so to speak, removing the muffler will help lower egt's.

Hmm, looks like, according to your screenname you have a 2001 Duramax, which means LB7, which means no Cat.
so, are you wanting to go straitpipe??
need to add a signiture block so you will get answers specific to your truck and we can answer accordinly.

Yeah i know I need to do my sig.I have an 01.I just pulled off the exhaust where it unbolts right in front muffler to test the sound and performance. It definately spools up faster but the sound is not what I expeted,it's not very loud.I guess I have been around too many strait piped Cummins's.
