For S&G, wondering what's the limit on this engine.

Well it really depends on how the engine has been maintained, we have a van that used to be a Fedex express delivery for hearts and stuff like that and it has over 300,000 miles but it had injectors replaced every 100,00 miles and just routine maintenice like that, it all depends on how it has been maintained, and not to be a nag but fill out your sig so we can see what you got:D

Just came back from colorado with my 6.5, put 3,000 miles on it. 248,000 on it. Time for another oil change... lol. Have pics with it in front of the Leadville city limit sign. The town with the highest elevation in the united states....10,200 ft altitude. Will post those pics later after i nap. Been a loooong trip.

Moral of this story is that even with lots of miles they are still good to go for whatever you want to do, even mountain climbing. Didnt get to do pikes peak this trip because the mountain was snow packed, but hopefully next time! 10,000 ft is still high up... thin air... made the turbo have a significant amount of lag... blew smoke like a cummins on takeoff. Got a vid of that... will post it too. :)

Almost 400,000 kms on dads. It has been over heated, overloaded, it does not see many easy days as it is a farm truck.

I know of a quite a few 6.5's with over 500,000 kms on them. I also know of a few that never made 100,000. If you look after them, they will look after you.

My 2002 Savana one-ton has 253,000 miles. And we came east through Wolf Creek and La Veta passes on U.S. 160 last summer. That was 10,850 feet, i think. Didn't even smoke. Used a quart and a half of 15w-40 in the 4000 miles between the last two oil changes. I don't think i have anything to complain about.

Not sure how to do that but did add to the sig.

Probably the best truck I have owned. One IP (pricey) and quite a few LP, GP's maybe 4 or 5 sets, 2 vac pumps, 1 water pump, countless brake jobs, all ball joints, tie rods etc. guessing 4-5 sets of Michelins. Own all the tools now to do just about what ev!

Not to get too far off topic, but I thought it was odd that mine smoked. It never even smoked when the vac pump went dead and thus had no boost at all. It was just a little turbo lag that made it smoke this time which i dont understand either, once it built boost after a second or two it was fine. I didnt think elevation would make it lag, i just thought it would reduce the amount of boost it made, but it even had normal boost level which i also thought was odd being so high up in elevation.

At one point I past a sign that said 11,000 something feet but i dont know if that was the road that i was on that was that high or if it was the mountain beside it. Either way the top of that mountain wasnt but a hundred or so feet higher than the road. It was on the road between Copper mountain and Leadville Colorado. Coming up I-70 on the other side of denver (up in the mountains) the truck started to get a bit warm. Never hit 210 but it got close. If any of you are ever in colorado id suggest going that route and seeing the mountains and stuff. Its incredible! It was like 65 degrees in denver and 30 on the mountain. Even had snow on it... in june

I cant beleive i drove almost 3,000 miles in 6 days. Wow. I was half quart low when i left colorado for home. Usually use about a quart between changes. Using.... umm 5-40? rotella synthetic.

Wolf creek sounds very familiar to me for some reason. Is that in colorado too? No theres nothing to complain about for sure. Im totally amazed at these trucks.

I can't say anything when it comes to mileage. I've got just over 66,000 on the whole truck and its got a Jasper rebuild in it that has an unknown amount of miles from... IIRC 2001.

146K miles on original engine and 4L80E Transmission. Mostly towing boats.

New IP at 115K and dealer refused to honor the recall as it was 2 months past 11 years under the recall. That first IP last 3 months and the next did come under warranty. Have a spare remote mounted FSD and heat sink on the ready. Lift pump replace at 110K. AC compressor replaced 3x, twice under lifetime part warranty. Alternator replace at about 135K. Idler pulley bearing disintegrated at 136K. Multiple sets of batteries replace due to crappy side mounts. Front axle 4wd actuator has gone out 3x (two hydro thermal, one of the new motorized under warranty). Wheel speed sensor for anti lock brakes went out. Driver side door handle broke. New front disc brake rotors. Let's just say that a lot of little stuff goes wrong on this truck. Engine itself is fine.

59k on my 93.;)

However, our coffee supply guy for the office has an Express with 375k and it seems to run out well.

We had an interesting talk about additives for the ULSD.

My one-owner 93 needed help, but now at 258,000 the original 4L80E is working great. Oil changes every 2500 miles, trans filter every year. Chevy did the IP at 90,000. Rebuilder did a poor rebuild on IP, I just had it rebuilt correctly. Two alternators, one compliments of Chevy at about 30,000. Truck has done much (too) heavy towing, and is my all time favorite vehicle.

Yes, Wolf Creek Pass and La Veta Pass are in Colorado on U.S.160, as you drive east out of Durango. Beautiful country. And yes, we had a snow ball fight on the continental divide at the top of Wolf Creek on 30 June 08. We carried some snow balls down to Colorado Springs, and threw them around the hotel parking lot the next day. I teased my sons about maybe upsetting the balance of nature by taking snow from the west side of the divide, which would have melted into the Pacific Ocean, and causing it to melt on the east side of the divide, into the Atlantic Ocean. I told them they might have started the Apocalypse. My then ten-year old says, "I ALWAYS knew I'd be involved in that!" Scary thing is, he is serious.
