Well The other day my rear Diff would not unlock. So I drained it and pulled the cover. Big chunks of metal. The stock G80 locker was ruined.
Metal pieces in everything. It put a big dent on the inside of the differntial cover.Ruined all the bearings.
So I am putting an Eaton Tru Trac Locker in it. $900
All new bearings and other parts just about 600.
Plus labor.
The cost of having fun in the big Diesel just got even more spendy.
I never realized till now how crappy all the stock lockers are in the GM trucks.
In my old 2000 sierra 1/2 ton blew the rear end out of that and that was $2400 at the STealer.

If your planning on running big power better plan on beefing up the rear end along with the tranny. One on going money hole.
If I could go back in time I would have left my truck stock. What a waste of money. Especially after spending 4800 on a tranny.
Wanna play Your going to pay dearly.

I put one in an older truck with a 9.5" and it works really good. The only downfall to it that I have seen is when you are towing and going through a sharp slow speed turn and give it throttle it will try and push the truck straight instead of gliding through the turn like a G80 would. After you drive it a little though you get used to it and adapt.

Can't wait to get the truck back. Getting The transfer case torn apart as well to fix the pump rub. Shouldnt have any other issues with this truck for a while.

I am very happy with my Tru Trac. It had no problem smoothly engaging on a very steep dirt hill pulling a trailer that weighed a least 7000 lbs. I had to come to a complete stop due to oncoming traffic ( of course ). I was thinking about shifting into 4Lo but the Tru track worked instantly without a sound or bump. Mine

I got my truck back and running. This TRU TAC IS BAd ASS. Gets much better traction.
There is Zero Hesitation when one tire slips this thing engages instantley.
The truck goes sideways on every corner now.
These tires are going to be gone soon!!!!
I might get some traction bars next?

I highley recomend anyone running anywhere from 100+ hp to get this. Worth all of $900 went in very smoothley. Just replace the stock one b4 the it takes a crap on you and cost even more with all the damage the metal pieces do to the bearing.

Glad to hear you like it Mark, I just Broke my G80 Last week also, What a POS!

Got a good deal on one so i put a new one back in, When i get back to work i'll have to invest in a better locker.

I too broke the G80 in my 04 Z71 and put a Detroit True trac in, It was night and day from stock.
