I am fairley new to the DP and mostly just sit and read all the threads that I can to learn as much as I can. I recently traded my 01 LB7 w/allison for my new 05 w/ZF6 and I have read all your threads about the new clutches and so on. My question is; how much power and TQ can the stock ZF handle before you experience problems or will this clutch assembly be a must before you can put a chip in? One last question, what seems to be the best chip for the LLY w/zf combo. and if so what would be my limit. BTW you guys have a great fourm here w/ a great deal of information, I've learned alot. Thanks.

Just an important point to clarify, the ZF is a great transmission. I love mine and would only wish GM would use a decent clutch setup. Many of us with the ZF have had some sort of issue, even with stock power levels. Adding power guarantees your clutch a place in the trash. But the point I am making, is that the transmission is great, its the clutch that gives it a bad name.

so with a clutch upgrade the zf will be able to handle some moderate power upgrades, would that be correct statement?

I'm also new here.I just bought an 01 D-Max 6spd.It has like 5k on a new clutch, flywheel, ect, ect.I want to run an Edge, but if it will imediately destroy the flywheel I'd need to know.I assume it will from what I have heard. What flywheel will hold up,and what would one cost. How strong is the OEM clutch? Thanks

I am thinking about going with the banks Big Hoss set up. So there is proably no way that I could run its full potential. Where can I get some information on upgraded flywheels and clutch assemblys? What would you recomend?

Banks sucks for the most part (do some searching) and get ahold of CPMac (not easy, but you live in the right state last I heard).
Sorry if this sounds a bit coarse, but it is the truth...

It dosent sound course at all. That is why I am here, it is to get advice, as I know there are several applications out there. And I am looking for all the input that I can. How do I get ahold of this CMac?

As I have tried, CPMac is just about impossible to get ahold of. I did however, speak to someone yesterday that indicated they are working on a dual disc street clutch with a SINGLE MASS FLYWHEEL. Finally a real business. They said they are in their early R&D stages for this product, but I have a good feeling about this. They did ask, however, that I not use their name, as they do not wish to be inundated with calls. I told them I would check back in a few months to see how the product is progressing. I am going to give them some time since my clutch holds if I am careful.
Let's pray that this company can fill the void for us handshakers!

That sounds really good. I hope thet you get some good news on that. Keep us posted on your progress, as I feel that I am at a stalemate on upgrades until I get new clutches and flywheel.
