I would like to have one and I was wondering if they were close to being as good as a mountable on (ie" Cobra 29LTD). I don't really have a good place to mount a mountable one without cutting or installing auxiallary speakers. Just kind of curious here, also, what are some good one to go with. Looks perfect for a CB...... haneym 05-03-2005, 02:10 PM I have a midland that fits perfectly in the spot runninhorn mentioned. I dont have it hardmounted though as I only use it on trips. I wired it to a cig lighter plug and have a 3' fiberglass magnet mount antenna. I keep all behind the rear seat so I can just pull it out, plug it in and use. It is a cheap setup and MUCH better than a handheld. It's certainly not the best at transmitting, but it would be better than a handheld, & it doesn't take up much room. kbstinky 05-03-2005, 03:36 PM If you get the small handheld, the "box" can be installed just behind the console panel just above the gas pedal. Did it on my dmax, and suburban. lovette 05-05-2005, 04:30 PM I have the Cobra 75WXST, a three foot Wilson fiberglass antenna, and an old Gray linear. I agree that it's not a top of the line radio, but it's adequate, and you can hide the little box anywhere. dirty old man 05-07-2005, 01:30 AM Linears are so common now that it has been 10 years since I tried to hide one when I installed. I just mount it where it is convenient. I've even used heavy tie-wraps and strapped the linear under the TXCVR. Reineke 05-08-2005, 01:40 AM Thanks for your opinions guys. It is still a toss up.
