We purchased a bunch of the "new" fuel filters only to find a big flaw with the construction of them.
The new filters on the bottom where the WIF sensor is installed they are only threaded partially on the inside. We found that when snugging the sensor it had jumped the threads and not sealed.
I found this out when climbing a 7% grade with a big load on and the truck died, got out to check what happened and diesel was just pouring out the bottom of the filter.

This is just FYI for all that are running the new filter.

What relly sucks is this filter has been on for 2K before this happened.

Could you look at the threads and see if they might be a problem if they are not threaded all the way into the filter?

No. It looked good. Dealer actually installed it. It was tight until it slipped off the threads. It felt like when you turn the lid on a gallon of milk too far.

That's probably exactly how it felt to the tech when he over tightened it.

Im just wondering what exactly is "new." Is it a different shape? Different micron rating?

So physically the same then. Does it give any specs, etc?

i was under the impression that the updated fuel filter was supposed to be longer lasting.
