The stock bose 6 disc head unit just took a crap on my 05.

I have factory RCE that I want to maintain (I only care about keeping the rear DVD player, I dont care about rear audio controls) but would prefer ditching the GM deck and getting something more reliable.

The FAQ says an aftermarket deck will not work with the RCE, but I just called Crutchfield and they said all I need is a deck with A/V input.

Can someone please help me out here??

Thanks! Ben

if it has av out puts the rear dvd system would work fine but the controls wont work as they use a ipbus

but the dvd player should work just hook it to the inputs in the back new system via av cables same as any dvd system you could also build a dual zone type set up with headphones like this easy

Which controls won't work? The ones on the overhead???

IE, I could hit Play, FF, RW, Eject from the aftermarket deck, and the kids could watch it in back on the existing screen............but the overhead (rear seat) controls would not work?

This sounds good to me, I could live with it.

yeah the controls basically where you can listen to it on headphones with the radio and all but the monitor would hook up fine they just use a power and av source
