: LB7 front pipe vs. MBRP replacement

Alright, I think I know the answer and that is that the MBRP pipe is a few bucks cheaper.

However, assuming ready access to an LB7 front pipe (i.e., the collision catalog at www.partszoneonline.com), what is the downside? They have it listed at $131 plus shipping (maybe $40?).

Who has the scoop? :)

I'm about 90% sure that's what I'm going to do, but wanted to hear someone else's input on whether the oem pipe had any advantages. I have no allegience to oem and don't mind saving a few bucks either.

i believe the MBRP cat delete pipe is 4 inch where the LB7 pipe is 3.5 or whatever stock size is. correct me if i am wrong as i am planning on getting one of these jewels. seems like i saw it cheaper than jsth7186 quoted too (see the supporting vendors).

Did just that; DPPI got the call earlier today so hopefully I'll see it late this week!

I installed mine last night. 50 minutes from the time I pulled the new one out of the box, till it was running. It's an easy job, and the MBRP pipe fits perfect. If you take the 2 bolts holding the bracket on the tranny out, the whole mess will slide out the front. The new one goes in without even trying.

Mine sounds like a hairdryer on crack now at idle. Didn't get to drive it last night, but i'm going to take it for a spin after work tonight. Can't wait to see if it helps the spool up. Mine has a good second or 2 delay before all hell would break loose. Hopefully this will help.!:ro)

Did you go to Lowe's and get stainless bolts or use the factory stuff? Seems like I recall someone complaining about the bolts and brackets with the MBRP stuff not being stainless?

Hair dryer on crack huh? Annoying or cool? I don't want to sound like a ricer with too big a pipe...

jth7186,

As compared to the prices posted we are a little less costly overall, especially when you take UPS into consideration. Then again we have the pipe in aluminized and that really makes us a whole lot less! Hope you enjoy yours, everybody that has gotten one has been very positive so far!

Mark, that price I posted was for an oem LB7 pipe from partszone, and their UPS pricing gets way up there. You were definitely cheaper on the MBRP stainless pipe and the UPS price was much, much better. Couldn't be happier with the price, in fact. :D

Thanks!

I used the supplied bolts, which I think will be fine. I decided stainless was a lil overkill, but to each their own. It was a super easy project, honestly.

It sounds kinda cool actually on the outside. I finally drove it last night, and didn't notice any difference in noise inside the cab, EXCEPT, the DRONE WENT AWAY!!!!:) Whoo hooooo.! I was really happy about that, and didn't expect it.

Didn't feel any power difference, but I really didn't expect any. Just hoping my egt's are a lil better for towing. I did hear a teeeeeny tiny amount more turbo sound, which I like also. Overall, if my egt's are better, i'm happy for that and getting rid of the drone sound.
