Another reason why I wish I had my camera during my filter change...
I did a lot of research prior to buying the Parker/Racor setup from Greg at lubespecialist. Based on what I saw of the filter element after my recent filter change, I am very pleased (and Greg has treated me well with all purchases I have made!)
That being said - I have some concerns with the Parker filter head. Before spinning on the new filter, I went to clean the mating surface on the head. It just so happens that the Parker filter head is painted from the factory kind of a cream color. The paint is also on the underside of the filter head where the filter seals to the head.
It appears as though the paint is bubbling up where the seal meets the head. I live in Michigan so we have lots-o-salt in the winter but was suprised to see the head in that condition after just one winter.
I have checked it a couple times since to make sure it is not leaking (and it is not), but noticed the heads for the CAT filter are not painted. Maybe for a reason?
Just an observation. Wonder what this thing will look like in 2, 3, 5 years down the road.
Greg - if you are still following this site, any suggestions?
