: No more smoke with edge & boost stick? LLYMike 06-06-2009, 05:57 PM I installed a kennedy boost stick and now with my edge set on level 3 with the low boost fueling set on 5 I dont have any smoke. Does the motor need more fuel than the edge can provide on level 3? Any help is appreciated. Thanks bartman39 06-06-2009, 07:57 PM Uh... Part of the purpose for the boost stick is to increase boost which will also reduce smoke but also increase HP (more effective use of the extra fuel so less smoke)... Should have also noticed an increase in turbo noise but possibly not and no change in boost readings on the Edge attitude monitor (it reads the fooled end that the ECU see`s) BTW thank you for your service to our country... LLYMike 06-06-2009, 10:32 PM Right I understand that the black smoke is unburned fuel but there is absolutley no smoke I was worried about having too much boost and not enough fuel on level 3 or should I keep it on level 4 for the extra fuel? Sorry I'm a newb to the diesel world but I I'm worried about burning a piston from running too lean. Thanks it was my pleasure to serve my country thank you for mentioning it bartman39 06-07-2009, 11:06 AM It should be just fine the boost stick only adds around 6-10 psi on the max end, so if your seeing around 20-24 psi on the Edge monitor just add to that... Also are you running the EGT probe and monitoring it as well...? More boost will lower EGT`s which helps with not burning a piston and of course do not tow at that level mainly for the trans... 2004dmax 06-07-2009, 05:51 PM There isnt such a thing as running a duramax to lean.....it aint a 2 stroke????.
