could you use k&n filter cleaning kit to clean your afe air filter

I am, not sure if it is recommended, but have used it the last two times. The local diesel performance shop said no problem! I guess if it is wrong, I will find out the hard way!

Yes you can but there is a difference in the oils especially. The K&N oil will foul mass air sensors (ask the Mustang boys) the AFE oil has been reformulated to not do that. This is in fact one of the reasons AFE is in business. The owner realized this and other problems at his previous employer and since they wouldn't change the situation he started his own air products business!
