Stock tires on my '01 3500 are Goodyear AT/S 215/85/16 load range E. They are supposed to be really good tires. Mine are wearing well, but they don't bite in the mud to well....5 hours of shoveling and toting gravel to get out of the mud....basic research ):h . Anyways, I've looked into a different set for my truck and the tires that are comprable in performance are pricey. I have considered moving up to 235/85/16s because there is much more choice and they are MUCH cheaper. And, according to Forum input, at only an inch or so taller there might not be a need to recalibrate. My $.02 worth.

How did you get 265's to work? Did you use spacers? I'm running 235's and have concerns with tire rub. I actually have less rubbing when loaded as I keep the rear tires at max pressure vs running unloaded and lower air pressure.

I hear ya RVC!!!! I have 235s on my 03 3500 CC DRW. I cant imagine putting 265s on there. I pull 16000 lbs of 5th wheel with my truck and the sidewalls are pretty well stretched and rub all the time, loaded or empty. Those 215s look ridiculous, but I cant find an aftermarket wheel mfr that makes a different rear offset, love my truck, hate the wheels. Those new furds have 245 17s and a mile of space between the tires. C'mon GM!!!!!

Not trying to hi-jack the thread, but dano73, what type of tires are you running? I pull up to 20K and only have to worry about rubbing with rough roads or field bumps. I'm running the firestone steeltex, but will try micheline next as the wear has not been as good as I had hoped with the firestone. Didn't go micheline to begin with as was not impressed with the snow/wet dirt or clay/gravel traction when I ran them 6 or 7 years ago.

I don't need my truck way up in the air pulling flat decks and horse trailers, so 16' rims are fine, but a selection of different offsets would sure be nice to allow a better tire width. I think the current factory rims are to reduce tire size and associated weight that can be placed on the trucks legally.
