OK so we have a 2002 LB7 and an 05 LLY here. The LLY has a Suncoast IV in it, the LB7 has a stock trans. The 05 LLY is getting traded in, so we are swapping the stock tranny from the LB7 into the LLY and swapping the suncoast IV into the LB7.

Obviously we have to swap valve bodies because the LLY has a G solenoid...

So I planned on just swapping the transgo kit from the LLY valve body to the LB7 valve body, and swapping the stock trim valves back into the LLY valve body.

We obviously also have to swap the spacer plates too, from the LLY to the LB7 because the LLY one is "transgo'd" and has the holes drilled out.

I assumed the stock LB7 spacer plate would be the same as a stock LLY spacer plate, so I would just put the stock LB7 plate into the LLY valve body. All the holes/passages correspond, EXCEPT the passagway for the C3/B trim, C3/exhaust backfill, exhaust backfill, and cutback. On the LB7 spacer plate its a really small hole and on the LLY plate its roughly 1/8" in diameter.

Should we drill out the LB7 one to match? Is a small hole in that place going to cause problems in a stock LB7 trans? And vice versa,if we put a built LLY allison (with a transgo'd LB7 valve body swapped in) into an LB7, is the big hole going to cause problems?

I cant imagine it would, but I just want to check...

thanks
ben

So what did you find out?

So what did you find out?

LB7 and LLY separator plates aren't interchangeable--one dowl pin that aligns valve body halves are slightly off. Even if one slotted the plate hole chances are good there's some other differences.
