: How big can you go?
J-HEFF 05-02-2005, 06:56 PM I'm looking into putting a super lift suspension kit on by the end of the summer. My question is how big of a tire do they make for a 16 inch rim? Most of what brands I've looked at only offer as big as a 315 75R 16. Who, if anyone, makes a tire for a 16inch rim thats bigger than 35 inches????
Thanks everyone

interco (superswamper), mickey thompson, pro comp, parnelli jones, big O, to name just a few. better to figure out what size you want to run, both lift and tire.
J-HEFF 05-02-2005, 07:11 PM Six to seven inches of lift can be obtained with the superlift...and I guess any other lift via torsion lift, but i just want to run something bigger than a 315.
noreaster 05-02-2005, 07:25 PM 37s think thats the stock size on a hummer, i could be mistaken.
WAskier 05-02-2005, 08:34 PM Interco makes 38" boggers and other tires that will fit on a 16" wheel. Not too sure that's quite what you're after but big tires for 16" wheels do exist.
Check it out (http://www.intercotire.com/html/ssr_series.htm)
J-HEFF 05-02-2005, 11:43 PM Yeah, I'm really looking for something that not quite as agressive as the boggers are, just for the fact I don't need all that traction, but I do want something thats a 10 ply. I can't seem to keep the 8 plys from going flat...interco does make the TrXus tire, which might be the way to go, and it comes in 36in for 16 inch rim. Anyone familiar with this tire, or know anything about it??? Thanks all!

noreaster 05-03-2005, 12:02 AM other than that all i can say is get an offroad magazine & check out different tire companys in there, think they all have websites with specs & sizes
WAskier 05-03-2005, 03:08 AM In my search for tires I asked about the truxus. I know a bunch of jeepers who love them but on our heavy trucks they dont' wear well and are a royal pain to keep balanced is the concensus I got.
J-HEFF 05-04-2005, 12:01 AM Hmm, well I definatly don't want a tire thats going to be a royal pain, just need something that is super strong and will wear good. Thanks for all the insight guys!!!!

01Duramax6spd 05-04-2005, 08:54 AM Toyo M/T 38x14.50.16.They are supposed to wear realy well. That's what I'm going to get but not that big.
J-HEFF 05-04-2005, 06:00 PM I like the Toyo MT's a lot, but I didn't think they came in the size I want. Truthfully I'd like to run a 37 12.5 R16, I definatly want something that will wear good, I was hopeing that BFG All terrains came in that size, but I think they only work on 17 inch rims. Anyway, I don't want a tire that will wear out in 15,000 miles. Do Toyo MT's come in a 36 inch tire or something close that'll work for a 16 by 8??? I don't want to get 16 by 10's, they through to much gravel and crap all over the truck. I know 16 by 8 is a little narrow, but I know of guys using them with tires that are 12.5 wide and haven't had any problems or weird wearing. Thanks all,

01Duramax6spd 05-04-2005, 06:23 PM No 36"s yet from Toyo.Just the 315's and the 38"s.They have some 37x13.50x17,but then you have to change rims. You can use H2 17" rims. They are 17"x8.5" and they are fairly cheap on Ebay. It doesn't seem like anyone other than Interco makes a 36"x12.50x16".Pro Comp has some 37x13.50x16"s but $365 each!
noreaster 05-04-2005, 06:30 PM j-heff, did u see my earlier post with the 37-12.5-16?

J-HEFF 05-04-2005, 10:32 PM noreaster- I didn't catch your post, I'd really like to see your 37's. Incase I don't find it, what lift and what tires are you running?
Nar-thanks for the link. Do you have any experience with the baja claws? TO tell you the truth i've heard lots of bad things about them, but I don't know how credible the sources were. I sure like the look of them though!

_nar_ 05-05-2005, 01:04 AM They are sweeeet. My brother has a set of 315-75-16 claw radials on his 98 with a 6 inch rcd and a 3 inch body lift. They are really great on the street so far, grip as good as any tires I have had. They are really sweet offroad, dig good, clean out well as long as you have the power to spin them. Driving through water in the ruts on the road they push the water out and don't hydroplane like all terrain tires do... I like them and plan to have a set sometime. Look through his pics, the white 2 tone 98...
