So, someone's gotta ask...

How long do you think it will be before the guys at SunCoast have a 6 speed built up and ready for us to play with? :)

It's my secret hope that we'll be able to retrofit older trucks with the new 6 speed too. That would just be too cool. :ro)

Thankful

I am bummed. I just sold my other truck on Saturday and am picking up my new 05 Duramax/Allison this weekend. If I had known for sure the 6 speed was for real, I would have waited.

Where did you get your facts about the 2006 2500HD with the 6 speed auto in it? Thats a huge upgrade, I might stop driving my 05 and wait.

Will the d/max have more power with the six speed auto or not?
How bout six speed manual?

The 6th gear is an additional OD gear. 0.61:1 (I think).
I have heard about a revised emmisions friendly(er) engine.

My guess would be just better mileage. Who knows....

A second overdrive would be nice to have when not towing for better highway MPG!

I've already seen those new mirrors on trucks here in michigan. I thought they were aftermarket. They kinda look goofey on the trucks in my opinion. Hopefully they'll be more functional than the current ones.

6 speed with 4:10 would be great. Really, I would like the final drive ratio of 6th to be slightly higher than 5 spd 5th with 3.73 and then one more gear in the middle to help the range. Towing you'd spend more time in 5th but it wouldn't be as bad as current 4th.

Have you seen what diesel cost lately??????

I could really go for another gear.

I cannot wait for a Diesel Suburban, especially if it's not the de-tuned version that we have also been hearing rumors about. Full blown D-max 'burb with the six-speed allison, WHERE DO I SIGN???

A fully loaded burban is already 60k so with the Dmax and Alli it'll be pushing $67k

Better yet what would be neat to have would be a 2500 HD Duramax Denali. I think alot of people would buy that

After years of driving GM trucks I finally gave up. They haven't really changed the trucks all that much since they dropped the solid axle way back in the seventees. C/K was the same for 10 years.... now the 99-up... really not all that significant change from the C/K.. same basic design.

2007.... don't expect much ... why should we... they have been low riding IFS forever and GM believes it's the only good design available. Dmax/Allison was exciting when it was finally produced but a real letdown considering GM's bold move to fix it's old problems of problematic diesels. The 6.5 TD had major injector pump issues that killed off alot of GM lovers. I can't beleive they have another engine with significant fuel system problems.

One thing you can be certain of.. they will get uglier.

I'm not posting this to piss anyone off, it's really how I've come to grips with my old fascination for GM. It's finally over. Still love some of their stuff.

:exactly: I'm in the same boat only with all of the big 3. Nevertheless, I'm going with one more GM and if it doesn’t make me happy I will either build my own or go import.-:t

Thing is that everything will get uglier............ With new emissions and standards that manufacutres must meet and to please the customer it just gets harder, and since older people tend to favor how things were done before new things will always seem ugly to the older generation.

GM has been somewhat disappointing?? There trucks are the best built most solid trucks around. No maybe they aren’t as huge as a SuperDuty or a Dodge but they are the best truck all around period. Duramax best diesel yet? No…The Cummins is a great motor, the rest of the Dodge is built poorly and it shows. A Ford will always be a Ford, everything will be ok about the truck until the first breakdown occurs but overall they do have a decent set-up

GM finally over??

The largest automaker in the world over?…I really don’t think so

Opinions are opinions, everyone’s entitled to them, but GM has always made a good dependable truck. The HD trucks are getting stronger and are competing very well against Ford and Dodge—The Allison transmission alone is far superior to torqueshift or the prone to fail 47RE /48RE

Personally I see the GM HD trucks getting better with the continuing development of the Duramax and updated Allison coming out.

Solid Axle GM trucks ended in 1987 hopefully they will come back someday

Guys, I work for a union. A lot of this, "the sky is falling" we are hearing from GM and Ford is for future contract negotiations. Have you seen what is happening at the airlines? GM and Ford would love to gut the UAW pensions and benefits, this is just the first step. Are there problems? Sure, but they will find workable solutions and still make great products to push each other to make even better products. These companies know how to make money and making an inferior product and driving away customers from one of your hottest selling vehicles is no way to make money. I think GM will continue to dump money into these trucks and they will continue to get better.

did you guys read about what the Bankruptcy judge did to the pension fund of UAL, This is just going to be the start of it, luckily the FPIC will step in, but then we all know you & I are going to pay for it in ther long run when the goverment gets involved, hell they done a great job running the Social Security program havent they.

Guy's if you have a pension fund, and you are vested in it at work, start paying real close attention to it, I know I am.
