I'm looking at starting to make biodiesel for my Dmax and doing lots of research. I've seen people talking about making soap etc, but you can only make so much soap. What's everyone doing w/ their glycerin?

I let it sit outside for about a half day to get out the Meth, then I spread it on the dirt road for dust control.

If you live out in the country that is a great solution. It is a great weed/plant killer. If you live where you are on a public sewer system, check with the waste managemant facility to see if you can pour it down the drain. Alot of waste management facilities add methynol to their pits to help break down the crap and the rest of the glycerin is basically soap which you already put down the drain. This method is not suggested if you have a septic system/leach field whereas it will seal the soil and cause problems with drainage.

Distill the methanol back out of it and it will lower your cost for the Biodiesel.I am getting about 40% back out of mine, reuse it on the next batch and reduce cost of batch. Then dispose of it as suggested, soap, weedkiller, dust control, degreaser.

My regional recycling center takes it from me. They have a program for taking houshold and hazardous waste from residents a few times per year. I bring it to them 30gals at a time, all free. I do some of the other things suggested with the rest of it

I am in the water/wastewater buisness. If you are talking about small amouts then it is not a big deal. If you are doing large amounts-20-30 gallons then it could become a problem at the treatment plant. When they get blind sided by someone dumping chemicals into the system it disrupts they way they treat the waste water and have to adjust treatment. Call the regional facility and be honest with them and they will advise you.

Feed it to the cattle? I also read about people feeding cattle with it in popular mechanics.

I've heard you can mix it with saw dust and make "logs" for a fireplace.

You can also burn it... but you have to get it *really* hot or it's super sooty.
