Ok I amdefinetely going to add a fuel pump to my '02 duramax because I am running a programmer and need the extra fuel at 120 add hp. Could anyone link the basic minimum pumps gph I need and any threads on adding a liftpump? Any help would really be appreciated greatly. I dont want too much pressure because I know it can damage the injectors. I just want some additional pressure for the big power demands so not to deplete fuel system when I get on it lol

Are you talking Lift pump or CP3 pump? Lift pump helps to bring more fuel to the CP3 pump which it takes the fuel and high pressurize the fuel to inject into the cylinder through the injectors.

I think the lift pump. Dont i need more fuel availible at engine when running a good size tune?

As in PM 150gph pump should cover you fine. never heard a lift pump causing injector wear. Figure that is from dual cp3 pumps and so forth. Then one needs bigger injectors.

Do you have trans mods? If not, you will need them with a 120hp tune.

150 GPH seem to be the most popular, my Air Dog pressurizes the fuel lines TO the cp3 to about 10 psi. Just enough to show you where a big leak is if you have one, dont ask me how I know ;) Check out Alligator Performance for some of the different offerings, or any of the vendors here at DP.

Please be patient with me Im trying understand all this pump stuff lol. I am a diesel mechanic but I overhaul cats, cummins and detroits so this small stuff is all new to me. What and where is this cp3 pump? Is there one stock from factory ? Is that another word for my injector pump and if so is factory ok with stock injectors. I gues what im asking is do I need to invest in a different cp3 pump just for the 120 hp tune? Thanks for al the advice

CP3 pump can be called injector pump. Most here go by the name CP3 pump when dealing with Duramax engines and say injection pump when discussing 6.5L and 6.2L GM engines. PPE makes a dual CP3 kit adding a second CP3 running off the belt. Stock CP3 is gear driven. I say no problem with 120HP tune. Staying around 500HP total and your set. I would be looking into a Suncoast III or IV Allison rebuild. Thats going to be the next weakest link in the system.
