since all these dealers are going out of business I was wondering today as I was looking at the tec2 sittn there on the service table as I got my oil changed would they sell it to me when they closed their doors? dealerships dont have a contract with GM on the tec2 do they so where they have to return them when they close their doors?

it is an extra module required to communicate with 06+ gm cars and trucks

why do you need a tech 2?

But I thought you still need a subscribtion to keep it updated. And some changes can only be made if authorized through GM. Gm has to connect to the Tech II to authorize it to do some things. Just thinking that is the way it works on the Tech IIs.

Tech 2 is a scantool to aid in the diagnostics. It can be used to reprogram controllers but that requires the subscription.

It is not very useful for the regular duramax owner.... you would be better off with buying efi live as it will read most of what the tech 2 can, and save you about $1500 ....

just gona get it for diagonstics ect or turn around and sell it for what ever it is worth... I also have alot of friends that have GM's and if they ever need one I'd have it, wouldnt pay over 600 for it but I know the guy who owns the place and may be able to get a good deal.

I have one and really only use it now to flash stuff back to stock, program new modules and update software. To do all this I use the TIS2 subscription we have through the dealer. If it were'nt for that, I'd sell it and use my EFI Live or one of my other scan tools for diag.

I'm in north alabama... if you get that thing I'd pay you to reset the threshold on my TPMS... or hell I'd pay you to let me use the tech 2 for 10 minutes before you sold it. Where in TN are you? Fayetteville I'm hoping??? Guessing by your name..

No joke keep me posted!!

Thats a chunk of a drive. Still might be easier than messing with the dealers in surrounding cities. Keep me posted.

wrong. some simple module setups and changes can be done w/o tis but reprograms and flashing cannot.
