As you know by now, I am pulling 11,000 lbs and I am sure my tranny is going to take a beating when it is 110 degrees out and climbing the mountains. I am flushing and replacing all my fluid with Amsoil to hopefully reduce a couple degrees. Shall I go ahead and install the over sized pan? I have the exterior tranny cooler that is stock. I assume that this is not going to cut it. Shall I replace the cooler with one with a electric fan? What size cooler should I concider? I also read somewhere something about making sure the clutch fan comes on at 160degrees. Is this a clutch I have replace on the engine fan or is it a sensor somewhere? I will be installing a temp gauge in line when this project is completed.

I hope you have your EGT, boost AND tranny temp gages installed. Otherwise, start saving your money for a new engine. I blew mine on the lo-o-o-ng hill between Guadalupe Mountain State Park and Carlsbad, NM - the $ 9000 cost and extra week spent in Carlsbad, kind of ruined a great vacation. I was only pulling an 8000 lb travel trailer!! This could have been avoided if I'd spent the small amount for gages, BEFORE buying the exhaust, cooling & other mods.

definately gauges. the deep tranny pan is a good investment. i believe some on here have messed with the fan.
