Since TDG brought up this address, I will give him the credit, I had read the article, but couldn't find the magazine in my archives. If you have a 6.2 read this article and learn. This is a very good approach to determining power output of a 6.2 with minor mods and finally with a turbo. Pay special attention to the intake air temp and watch on the dyno runs how when intake air temp is increased, hp goes down. Also note the hp increase of using a non egr intake manifold. Overall this is a good article. For those of you on a budget, however, I will tell you that a set of free flowing mufflers and an open air intake along with some additional tweaking on the injection pump and a tweak of the timing will net you about the same power as the banks stinger results. And tweaking the fuel a bunch higher especially with a J series injection pump will net better hp results with the turbo.:cool2: Then it is up to your right foot to see if you can make it stay together!:exactly:<TABLE class=tborder cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=6 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR vAlign=top><TD class=alt2 width=175>Texas Diesel Guy (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/member.php?u=5829)<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_561993", true); </SCRIPT>

hello mr D, duel exhaust&glasspacks was an improvment and the truck has a nice mellow growl. then i went and made longer studs for my air cleaner, flipped the lid over so i'd have an open element so it would breath better problem now is when i get on the go peddle pedestreans on the sidewalk get sucked into the grill, my hood buckels in towards the engine and i'm deaf for a week:ro) any alternative suggestions? thanks

I never did like the idea of flipping the air cleaner lid, just too noisy. Fabricate a larger snorkel for the air cleaner and run some 4" metal dryer vent to the radiatior support to draw in cool air.;) :grd:

Hallo, I Am From South Africa And Bought A Land Cruiser Jeep With A 6.2 L Diesel Engine .i Am Bussy To Rebuild The Engine And Want's To Know If I Can Put A Turbo On It,because I Think It Is A 1982-1984 Model Engine And It Is A J Code. I Just Want To Know If The Crankshaft And The Block Will Hold It. Here In South Africa Toyota Put Turbo's On There New Hilux 3.0l Diesel Engines, and That Engines Can Not Take The Presure From The Turbo's.the Engines Just Hold For About 30 000 - 50 000 Kilometers.

I Bought Two New Tops Because Both Of Them Were Cracked On All Eight Silinders, I Am Also Going To Rebuild The Dieselpump.

I Also Want To Know How Much Power A Can Get Out Of The 6.2 Engine On The Save Side (kilowatts & Nm Torque)

I Just Play With The Jeep On The Weekends And If The Turbo Is Not Gone Hold I Dont Want To Put It On. I Have A Transport Business With Big Heavy Duty Trucks, And I Knew If That Turbo Engine Is Not Right It Bothers You A Lot.

Gale Banks makes a turbo kit for the 6.2. Advertised hp is 207 and 385 lb ft of torque. If you hold the boost to 10 psi max, keep your egt's below 1100 degrees F, and keep your water temp below 220, the engine should live just fine. Head gaskets and pistons are the weak links.;)
