i have had amsoil in my truck for 6,000 miles and i cant bring myself to go 20,000 on a single oil change. my dad had it in his 1/2 ton and he runs it in some company cars and he lost a car due to dirty oil. he puts it in the camry and 6.0 and his 5.3. he lost a camry due to ditry oil. im scared this will happen to me so i decided to switch back to rotella. can you switch from syn to dino oil cause ive heard that once you go synthetic you cant go back to regular? is there any truth to it?

Urban legend.

U can switch - U can mix - All compatible.

What I would suggest however, is run it to 10,000 or 1 year, then change it. But get an oil analysis anyway at 10,000 just to rest your mind at ease that the TBN did in fact hold up, and contaminants are not excessive. That's exactly what I will be doing in another 250 miles when I hit 10K on Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck. I will be staying with Mobil 1.

Yep take guess work out of it and get your oil analized. There is no guess involved if you send in a sample.

There are parts of the story not being told if a Camry engine went down and was lost to dirty oil and it was Amsoil. Amsoil guarantees the extended oil changes if you follow the parameters of the guarantee. That being said if a motor was lost due to Amsoil the first thing you should have done was contact Amsoil.

You must change the oil filter at the regular OEM recommended oil change interval if you don't use an Amsoil EAO oil filter to continue the warranty on the oil. If you use an Amsoil EAO oil filter they are guaranteed for 25k miles so no changing filters inbetween time. I go 25k miles on the wifes Honda Civic never had an issue with it.

yes they did use the EAO filter, are dealer told him to just change the filter and they should be fine, but thats alot of trouble to do. and yes i beleive you are right, i dont think i heard all of it, i myself has been satisfied with the product.

I just sent in a sample of the Mobil 1 5-40 w/ 10k miles on it.

The truck ( LLY) has 115k on it.

Lets compare results.....

Maybe he lost the car because it was a Camry?

Sure you can switch back. Since Sam's Club stopped carrying the Rotella Synthetic, I'm back to regular Rotella - I am not paying that astronomical price for it.

Sending mine Monday via Priority mail....... With luck maybe results by Friday or early the following week.

Sure love the Fumoto valve for taking the sample during my first 10K oil change....... Came in plenty hot Friday after a 200 mile trip and pulled right up on my 8K rated Rhino ramps.

In our area, Sam's was significantly cheaper than the Big Brother. Do you know if they were comparable where you shop?

I am being hijacked with the price of Amsoil now. Been using it for 240k miles, can't afford the increase of oil and filters so I will change my standard filter and leave my bypass filter on. I have ran on occasion 20k mile between oil changes but I am not sure I would want to do that all the time. Lab says I have a high rate of silica at 20k so i change it at every 10k now. Looks like I will use Mobil 1 this time due to the cost savings
