I saw this over at gm-trucks.com They list the HP and Torque rating for the 05LLY and the 06LLY

05 Auto 310 hp@3000rpm and 605 lb@1600rpm
06 Auto 250 hp@3200rpm and 460 lb@1600rpm

What's the deal with this?

If memory serves the detuned motor is what's going in the full size vans. It may just be a typo or poorly worded.

It could be. I'll have to check out GM offical website.

Edit: That must be what it is. I just checked out the on-line ordering guide and they have the numbers the same as the '05 models. Sorry my bad. Didn't mean to scare everyone.

i think they lowered the compression ratio and backed off the timing some! its suposed to be much much smoother and allot quieter. only time will tell

Too bad they derated them. 11 second vans would be cool, now it seems you would have to work harder to get it to that point...

Don't worry there will be aftermarket products out very quickly to turn the power up. Then you'll have to do tranny upgrades and on and on goes this thing of ours. :)

Ford does the same thing with their vans. You get a neutered version of the 6.0 diesel in it, 235HP?

Which is odd to say the least. The first Ford to get the V10 engine was the Van.

Perhaps it's cooling issues. Dunno.
