On my allison tranny I noticed right behind the bell housing there is a perfect round open hole about 1 to 1 1/2 inch in dia. it look like it should have a plug or something covering it to keep out dirt, does anyone know why it is there?:o:

Ummm, on my truck I am pretty sure there was a plug in that hole. I would suppose it's so you can inspect the teeth on the ring gear and t/c bolts. Your plug must have fallen out.

The round hole has no plug,seems to be a weep hole .There is a tin small rectangular plate that covers the T/C inspection slot,no bolt access,ring gear, yes.This is on the drivers side,weep hole,as I call it,is on the bottom.
