Look for the post where the exact steps are listed that need to be taken with the Tech II to change the TPM system. Some dealers may say no, some may say can't be done (you can show them the printout of the steps), some may charge you, others could be free. Chris

At the tire place here in town they put this little sensor next to each tire and turned it on and off when I got my tires rotated.

My dealership was able to make the necessary adjustment. At first, one of the mechanics said it couldn't be done. I talked to another technician, who knew what the hell he was doing, and he corrected it right away. For some reason the place where I purchased my new tires (America's Discount Tire), did not have the right software to clear and reset for the new tire pressure. Hope this helps.

boy oh boy you just opened up the same problem ive been looking for a resolve with. there's a long gripe thread about it. I've already ruined some lady's afternoon that worked for gm customer service... she told me the tires were an 'aftermarket part' and voided my warranty... boy i let her have it....

here's the thread i started with this issue. nate seems to know about this otc and i'm waiting for him to find time to mess with his some more.

Sure they weren't letting out air to do the tire location relearn of the TPMS system?
If not then go find out what they had and let us know. I have seen GM service tech use a device but looked a little smaller than a Tech II.

Diesel Rat- I can hook you up with a person in Baltimore who can do it. He owns a tech2 and did mine.

I believe you will get better results here in W&T.

I had the dealership lower my limits to 50 psi.

He lives in MD and I suggested a place in Baltimore MD that did mine.
I think that is pretty good resolution of problem.

It looks like a little tec2 but its orange and when he walked around to relearn the tire tpms system he stood by each tire waited 3-5 seconds then the horn honked and it was done he told me he turned it off and was turning it back on:)

I don't believe that lowered the alarm set pressures, just the location of the tire. I understand that nothing but a tec 2 will give the pressure settings a new value. My dealer was going to charge me 1/2 hr to lower the settings, but when I took it to him he said GM refused to let him because the tires would wear prematurly. I asked how the back, that has no weight needed more pressure than the front carring the diesel and he said smarter people than us decided that. BS. Took it to a friend with tech2 and am happy.

a tech II and an OTC Genisys 3.0 will relower the threshold. guy on here has done the OTC successfully... mine wasn't so successful. Still waiting for a resolution.

It is in the control lists to lower it on that computer though. That other thread has all the details.
