Has anyone done or seen the Clutch and Flywheel taken out of your trucks? I am going to be replaceing mine here very soon and I was looking today and it looks as if I am going to have to take the torsion bars and support out of it to get the transfer case out to get the trans slid back. Do any of you know if that is true?? I know that if it is than I am going to have to have the tool to take the pressure off of them to remove them and I needed to know if I was going to have to find someone that has the tool.:( Censored I have a Ext. cab LB so if any of ya'll have seen a truck like mine done I would be very greatful for your input and your knowage.:help:

You don't have to remove the torsion bars. check this thread:

BTW, what is the flywheel you are using as a replacement?

GM part # 24232434 DMF. It is the "NEW" DMF and is suppost to be a lot better than the old one. SBC pressure plate and chutch. Is suppost to handle 400ft. lbs. TQ over stock. I hope that is true. GMs DMF $500+ and SBC a little under $600. From what Craig told me that he would only cover his single and dual disk street clutch to 400ft. lbs. TQ over stock for $1700 to $1900 and I still had to install it myself. So I think for $1100 is a better chance to take than close to $2000 cause I don't know too many people that'll cover much when it comes to clutch systems. To much driver error to cover everything every time sometimes and you all know that if you do it for one then everyone else thinks you should do it for them too even if they don't know how to driver one and destroyed it themselves. I got 30% off of my DMF because of where I work so the DMF was only $378 so it made it an even cheaper set up for me. I know of at least one person who is even running much much more power than he is suppost to with his SBC set up and is having no problems no sqeaks, & no stiffer petal than stock and still able to punch it in 4th and be able to burn'en with 285s on. Not to bad I think. He'll most likely chime in here in a bit if he sees I'm writing about his truck. I'm not going to Track pull with it so don't need the $2400 clutch either. I understand if you can only have the biggest and best because of all the power your making but for me it is all I need. Please write back and feel free to tell me if you think I'm wrong but I just can't spend $2000 on something that is not a "sure thing." (if there ever is) Well sorry for the book. Write back and tell me what you think.

I wish you luck with your new kit. I understand the issue of cost etc. . . . how about posting some pics of your parts before you install them?
thanks.

flywheel is holding up and making no noises. Tuner and VA both set on kill. Should have even more fuel back here tom. This was a slight traction problem while cranking on it in fourth. The flywheel with South Bend's clutch holds. I will be dyno'ed Sat., so I can tell you for sure how much it is producing.

Look forward to your results. Lots of hand shakers have had flywheel problems so I hope yours holds fine. Mine smoked on the first dyno with only HJAT :(

On the dyno with just the HOT Xcelerator 476/975 was put down. On the thrid pull the stack was brought on power fell off. We assumed the intercooler got hot. Turned off the stack and power still was down around 450. With the stack the output will be over 500 and torque over a 1000;) . Clutch held on.
