Hi agian guys.. I got My 95 6.5 running again and in really good shape..
Im just having trouble with starting it..
I changed out the glow plug relay and the glow plugs.. cleaned the injectors.. new injector pump.. new ecu..
I turn the key and wait for the glow plug light to go out and turn the key and it struggles to fire.. It take about 30 secounds for it fire. usualy it fires first turn of the key.. some times i have to fail start it and then it will fire right up..
Im getting a ton of fuel to the injector pump..
I am thinking of selling the truck. Its a 1995 chevy 1 ton 4x4 extended cab duely. New clutch, New fly wheel (I spent the money and got the heavy duty up grade for the clutch and flywheel).. all the drive train has been through.. Rebuilt the trany with new sincros and seals same with transfer case.
New fuel pump, New fuel injector pump, New altinator, new ECU, New glow plug relay, New glow plugs..
I want to get it starting good before i sell it i just feel its only right.. It only has 120k miles on it.. Been a good truck but cant afford the fuel cost and insurance..Any suggestions would be great..
Any ideas how to sell the truck would be good to thanks again guys..

Hot wire the Lift Pump to run with the key on, build supply pressure before you start cranking. What rating were the Glowplugs you put in? Hows your cranking speed?

Where are you located at, Caveboy?
have you tried bleeding the air out of your filterbowl before start-up? Turn the black nob on the filter and power the LP just to see if there's any present.

Im Located in Houston, Texas...
The crancking speed is good.. the starter is cranking it like there is not tomorrow..
It does start so i dont know if it could be a compression problem or not..
It just takes like 30 secs or so..
I dont know what rating the Plugs were since my Dad bought them for me..
I bet they were the cheapest you can get from orielly..
It does run and drives nice.. no problems running at all..just start

I could help you look at the timing on my scantool. I'll be in Htown tomorrow.

Are you getting smoke during the cranking period? Fuel to injectors during that time too? May just need a fuel filter bowl rebuild. Let us know.

Thanks guys for all the help.. Im going to see what i can do about getting some better glow plugs.. I took a volt meter and hooked the wire that goes tot he glow plugs and all im getting it 10 volts... Im going to see if i can find some better glow plugs today...
I do get smoke actually when i try to start it.. I do have a small turbo leak..
The mechanic i took it to a while back told me it wouldnt hurt the truck might loose some power but thats all..But i only notice the leak during start and no other time.. so im thinking it is just the waste gate...

10v? is it possible your not getting a good conneection at the battery to the IGN. wire? that's the little wire coming off the driverside battery iirc on a '95.

Only having 10V sounds like your problem. See what you have at the glow plug solenoid. There is a bad connection somewhere.
Also, did you check at 1 glow plug or all of them? I had a problem where the 4 glow plug wires weren't all making contact through the crimp connection to the large orange wire (I had to strip, solder and tape this connection).

I've seen the same 4 wire crimp greg's talking about full of white/green oxidation and making cold starts impossible due to resistance.

I checked all the wires and made new connections on all of them.. Ill check the voltage at the cylinode.. Was going some research on them on line and found they need a complete 12 to get a good burn.. i might have to get new batterys also.. looks like im going to have to fork out some some for some glass packed batteries... WOO power...
Im also goign to try to get some higher rated plugs..
I did check all of the drivers side and was getting 10 volts didnt do passenger side yet do to the fact 3 of them are hard to get to...
Thanks for advise and ill let you guys know how it goes..
What do you think i could offer my truck for if i go to sell it...
We tried to trade it in for a dodge and they wanted to give us only 1500 for it so we desided to keep it..

I'd think $5000-6000 at the least and I'm pretty conservative when it comes to pricing. I'd like to see this truck, I'd rather have a dually.
Save your money on the glows. you probably got 60g's and they start mine in one 1/2 turn but I see 13.48v on the scantool for GP and GP relay. figure out where the resistance starts on that circuit. it goes from the small wire on the driverside battery to the ig switch, low on the steering colum to the GP relay to the plugs.

Check your lift pump. Hotwire it at the underhood relay box (corner relay) and open the vent nipple at the fuel filter, fuel should be spitting out, not just seeping out.
