Didn't see any threads about this yet and curious who else may have received this GM letter...

I received a letter in the mail last week from GM and a test laboratory regarding emissions testing. Apparently, GM is looking for certain privately owned '07 LMM vehicles to perform voluntary emissions testing on. If you sign up, they will evaluate your vehicle to determine if it suits the testing criteria. If it does, they provide you a loaner, instrument your vehicle with an onboard emissions data rig and ask you to drive your vehicle around for 1-2 days as you normally would. Then, they take it back, collect all the data and remove test rig, wash the vehilce and top off your tank. There is a $500 cash reimbursement if your vehicle is used for the entire testing, otherwise, they offer you $150 for the initial evaluation. Any "failed" emission data collected will not effect warranties or such. I'm thinking of signing up, but was curious if anyone else got the same letter.

Oh yeah, I was a bit peeved that I had to go pick-up the letter at the local post office and pay $0.21 for delivery. GM must really be bankrupt if they can't afford to pay complete postage for letters to people asking them to help 'em out. Makes me wonder if they can afford to pay the cash reimbursement.:(

I didn't get one either, but it would be one way to get back some of the money we loaned them:D

If you did get a letter you can go ahead and toss it out also :D

If there is a place to sign up for this online link me to it. I'd do it.

I would do it in a second! I want my loaner to be a ZR1. I bet I could put 1500 miles on it in two days. :D

I called the number on the letter and spoke with someone from the testing laboratory. I answered a few questions regarding the state of the vehicle, what was towed (if anything), and my willingness to participate. Now I wait for a phone call to see if they want to use my truck.

Most of their questions, though, all hinted around how "stock" the vehicle still was; tuners, chips, oil / fuel additives, powertrain mods, etc... Also asked a few regarding current mileage, OCIs, DIC messages, and brand of diesel fuel most oftened used.

I'll keep updating here if i get a call or receive more info. I would love to see some comparative data between a bone stock and one of your diehard modified vehicles out there. :D

typical of a broke ass company

"lets bang out a truck, save thousands (prolly millions) of dollars in testing before we release it, then when people buy it, we'll pay them some shitty low budget amount to do the testing for us"
