Didn't see any threads about this yet and curious who else may have received this GM letter...
I received a letter in the mail last week from GM and a test laboratory regarding emissions testing. Apparently, GM is looking for certain privately owned '07 LMM vehicles to perform voluntary emissions testing on. If you sign up, they will evaluate your vehicle to determine if it suits the testing criteria. If it does, they provide you a loaner, instrument your vehicle with an onboard emissions data rig and ask you to drive your vehicle around for 1-2 days as you normally would. Then, they take it back, collect all the data and remove test rig, wash the vehilce and top off your tank. There is a $500 cash reimbursement if your vehicle is used for the entire testing, otherwise, they offer you $150 for the initial evaluation. Any "failed" emission data collected will not effect warranties or such. I'm thinking of signing up, but was curious if anyone else got the same letter.
Oh yeah, I was a bit peeved that I had to go pick-up the letter at the local post office and pay $0.21 for delivery. GM must really be bankrupt if they can't afford to pay complete postage for letters to people asking them to help 'em out. Makes me wonder if they can afford to pay the cash reimbursement.:(
