I had posted a while backs about towing a tractor and trailer with a combined weight of about 24,000lbs and on of the viewers mentioned renting a medium duty truck to pull the trailer as I would only pull in infrequently.

Does anyone know of a company that will rent a medium duty truck? Everything that I find is your basic box truck from U-Haul?

Are their company’s that will rent a medium duty truck for pulling a trailer and/or a flat bed capable of hauling 20,000lbs?

Any insight would be great!

Good point!

I live in the Northern California (SF Bay Area).

Will companies even rent these types of trucks or is it just box trucks? Is it worth my time to search. So far my searching only reveals box trucks..........

Any help would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

I know Ryder truck rents a range of trucks commercially, including flat beds....Just a thought.

Best thing to tell you is start thumbin through the phone book. Look under rental, possibly a hertz(construction) or ryder might, and ask them about commercial truck rentals. They could at least get you pointed in the right direction. As far as getting a med duty truck set up to pull a gooseneck, probably not likely. Do you have your own trailer, or are you looking to rent that too? What kind of trailer, there are many types out there. I know some ford/sterling dealers have lease and rental programs, and I am sure if you found a chevy/gmc med duty dealer you could check with them also.

Start pounding the pavement as you are the only one who knows what you want. Try to post as much information as you can so the people replying can actually help you. I have no idea if I am even close to what you are after, because I have NO IDEA what kind of trailer you are looking to pull. (kingpin, gooseneck, pintle):)
