I bought a 1995 C3500 Dually a couple weeks ago. When I look up parts online, a lot of websites ask if it is a C3500 or C3500HD how do I know which one I have? It has a 6.5 "F", 4L80E, 4.10 with a factory locker, and a 10,000 lb GVW so I assume it is about the heaviest duty 3500 that they made in 1995. Any help?

c3500hd's are just a cab and chassis,. and the cab sits higher on the frame etc,.
yours is a regular c3500

Is this still applicable to the new body style trucks? Do you know if there are any towing or carrying capacity differences.... other than the lack of the weight of the missing bed I mean?

I believe the HD is just the dually version. Mine said 3500HD on the side(s).

Anyone have a NBS 3500HD single-rear-wheel?

THey are talking about the GMT400 body style. The 3500HD was a beefed up cab/chassis truck with a solid beam axle in front, only came in 2wd, and came stock with 19.5in rims.

Semi-crazy, we have two 3500HD's at work. 19.5 wheels,12' flatbeds, 454, auto.
They never get driven outside the oil refinery, been in the plant their whole lives, they can haul a big load, not real powerful feeling though and they ride very hard!
Seems like the body sits higher on the frame, there is a filler piece that goes from the bottom of the grill down to the bumper. Like the front of this wrecker in this pic:

I bought a 1995 3500HD with a 6.5 in it a few weeks ago, it has a 15,000 lb. GVWR which is the highest I have seen. It has 4.63 gears with a Dana 80 rear axle. I haven't found any written tow ratings for these trucks yet, but it is somewhere between 26,000-30,000 lbs. from what I have read elsewhere.

The bodies do sit higher, I think it is about 3" maybe even 6" that filler panel above the bumper is big. I have mine torn right down to the frame right now, and I can tell you there is absolutely NOTHING in common between these HD trucks and all the other Chevy's. Steering box looks the same, and the body is pretty much the same. Other than that, everything else is way different and way bigger, and they have a straight frame behind the cab.

If you use a simple VIN decoder on the internet it will tell you if it's an HD model or not. Any other questions I'll be happy to answer. :)
