I can't wait! I will be pulling my tranny next weekend and bringing it down to CT, then having Champion Transmission install the kit in the tranny while I hang out for the day. Then I will bring it home and install it that night. Mat gave me good pricing on the install. I don't know if he always has good pricing, or if he felt bad for me so I won't post the price without his permission here. June 8th can't come fast enough at this point.

Thanks Mat!

I'm from southern NH. Should probably be a couple hours for me.
Most of my trucks were the 4>5 or the 5>4 shift. Do you guys think that this will eliminate those problems all together, or am I still going to have to be careful?
I've heard that the scIV is good for 700rwhp. And that the stock turbo is only good for 500hp, so as long as I have the stock turbo, I should never be able to make enough power to smoke this tranny right? I plan on renting some dyno time so that I can fine tune this thing. I may just run the tune I made before and call it good. The stock tranny lasted a couple months with that one, and that includes hauling 10,000lbs about every weekend at the time.

you will be fine. I built mine (suncoast IV, built it myself in 2005) 95,000 miles ago and other than a converter refresh 7,000 miles ago, the trans has never been touched. Its lived through twin turbos, built motor, towing abuse, etc....

I'll probably start tearing it out tonight.

48 hours from now I'll be testing it out. The tire shop was supposed to save my old tires, because there was still plenty on them to "test" with.

Tranny is out. I decided to take it out last night instead of today in case there were any hang ups. Everything went nice, pretty straight forward. Some exhaust bolts broke, but that's to be expected when working on exhaust systems. I thought the bell housing bolts were going to be a pain, but lowering the back of the tranny some gave some pretty easy access to them. The TC bolts were a pain to get to, and I thought I was going to snap the swivel every time. Once they broke, they came out by hand.

I just recently pulled the tranny out on mine because of a leak. Keep us posted on the SC install, I want to do mine a little later when I get the cash together. The trans wasn't too bad, your right the converter is the PITA of the whole job. I had trouble putting the converter back in the trans, there probable a trick that I don't know about but it took about 15 minutes of playing around before it went all the way back in.

I just did my own stage IV last week. Took it up to Indy to the FASS diesel nationals and it runs awesoeme. Just taking it real easy right now, letting the TCM go through all the learning that it needs.

What Torque Converter you go with???

It's all in. But I have to do the sad smiley face.:( I am getting the p0700, which just means that the tcm is telling the pcm to light the ses light, but it's also getting p0846 and p0768, which are shift selinoid "D" and Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch "B" Circuit Range/Performance. I couldn't look them up before or I wouldn't have gone any farther. I had it on jack stands and I put 3.5 gallons of fluid in, started it for about 2-3 seconds, shut it off, added another half gallon, started it, shut it off, started it, held my foot on the brake and shifted through the gears a few times, repeated but let my foot off the brake and let the tires spin, checked fluid, added, cycled gears again, checked fluid and added, cycled etc until full cold, then drove it home. I am only 4 miles from the shop so I figured it would be my test ride. Kept trying to clear the codes, but they came right back and it was stuck in third. The tranny temp got up to 175* by the time I got home. Looks like I am going to have to call Mat tomorrow, well today.

Check those couple things Jason and keep me posted. Sounds like something electrical to me.

Just got off the phone with Jason, he cleaned the trans connector, connected it back up and cleared the codes. Everything is working as it should now.
I figured it was a bad connection.
Reset those TAPS Jason and enjoy it! :)

I had the same problem. Cleaned all the connectors out with contact cleaner. Resep TAPS and it was good to go. Just started getting into the 3/4-full throttle shifts. Kinda scary at first especially with the mean tune that im running.:rocking:

One more strange thing it's doing: It's almost as if I have to slam it in park. Sometimes I have to put it in park several times for it to "click" and also most of the time that it doesn't "click" it doe not show it on the dash. Nothing is highlighted, just shows the letters. When I get it in, the p is highlighted. Is it common to have to adjust the linkage after a build?

cant help much on the tech stuff but have fun with it when you get it dialed in its a trip!

im no expert but maybe the park brake pawl is outa wack or your linkage needs snugged up. You should just call mike L. and talk to him directly.

Sparky, I had the same problem. On my re-install, somehow I bent my linkage and had no movement of the shifter. I had to buy new linkage from chevy for $105. It doesnt sound like the issue that I had but I do know what it is. The linkage is a two part system and in the middle right under the floor of the drivers side, it a 2" diameter tube about 6-7" long that holds houses the adjustment for the linkage. There is a little "access door" thats on a large spring that needs to be slid back and inside is a clearish/white C-Clip looking thing that needs to be taken out and the linkage needs to be either pushed more in or out depending on what way helps it up top on the shifter. Just keep on moving it in small amounts until you have park and then check all the way down to first gear and make sure you have that. When I put the brand new linkage in it had to be adjusted so I tink its normal. Thats my guess. Hope it helps. If you need pics or further explanation on what the hell im talking about let me know.

Thanks, I'll look into that when I get home. It's wierd, because it doesn't always have the problem. Or maybe it's just because I'm slamming it all the time. You know how it feels when you are parking on an incline? That's how it feels. I'm sure it's just an adjutment that is needed. Maybe it got out of whack some how when I was installing or removing.

I checked it out today. I noticed that it also wasn't going 1 after I had made a small adjustment on the cable. It probably wasn't before either, but that made me look a little deeper. I shifted it by hand back and forth a few times and noticed that the bracket on the back of the tranny that holds the cable was wiggling. One of the bolts was missing and the other was loose. I tightened up the one that was loose and re-adjusted the cable and it all works perfect now.
